Okay, that was scary.
It was to a point. There were parts which were ridiculous, but other parts terrifying.

First time I watched it I thought, yeah this is spooky, second time not so much, maybe I was expecting the scares. Very good movie though. There are 2 sequels (or maybe prequels) I haven't seen them and a spin off movie series Annabelle, haven't seen them either.

Insidious is another good horror series which is kinda spooky.

The thoughts of Annabelle freak me out. I don't know what it is about scary dolls.
She appears in The Conjuring too and that was plenty enough of her for me!
Use a bloody indicator people please on your vehicle, bad road rage today need to rant vent

No Covid here, but it still sucks  Tongue

At least my would be close contacts can get on with their plans  Smile Phew!  Shy

The rules say I am still stuck until 48hours with no symptoms... Not like I don't have other medical stuff needing doing that this will delay...   Dodgy
Hope you feel better soon anyway, ari!

Thanks, I have a sneaking suspicion feeling properly better will require new meds, which I can't go get until I stop coughing, so hopefully the coughing is unrelated to the need for the new meds... pac
Eeeep! Glad it's not Covid ari!

I know it sounds crazy, but every time I've had a test done, I've been more concerned about how a positive result would affect my close contacts, rather than the potential implications of having it myself, even before vaccines were available

I've seen Annabelle. It wasn't of the same level as The Conjuring for me. Insidious though......that scared the living daylights out of me. Have you seen Sinister? That's another one. Scenes from it still pop in to my head completely out of the blue. Scary films can do that to me.
When the film you'd recorded on to your box, and were looking forward to watching, doesn't actually record properly and just freezes half way through Sad

Nooooooo!
Fuuuuuu, anxiety just skyrocketed by making the mistake of looking at today's numbers.

Deep breaths. Doing all I can.

It's a worry. I'm a natural hermit so can't see it effecting me personally, but on a more general level, it just doesn't seem to be improving.

I don't have the numbers to hand, but a chunk of today's numbers were due to a backlog in reporting. I saw it mentioned in the last few days that it would happen. Numbers are still high, but they're not as bad as the headline looks
Thanks EN, that makes it less scary. Just have to keep doing my best, and not taking any unnecessary risks.

QB, I am reasonably hermit-ish myself, happily spend time by myself.

It can be such an anxious time for so many people.

Are you scared of getting Covid and/or transmitting it?

Both, though more so passing it on.

Its an awful thought, that you might cause someone to get sick.

The way I look at it is that if I try really really hard to not be the cause of illness in others, then what does that mean for my life? I think of all the times I must have passed the flu on and it be passed to me.

The pandemic will settle in time. For now you just keep doing you and minding you and other people will have to take responsibility for themselves.
I really wish they would stop reporting case numbers as a meaningful figure now with 92% of the population fully vaccinated. Because it isn't and all it does is scare people.

The important figures are hospital and ICU numbers and if you look at those from yesterday they've increased by just 6 from 543 to 549, and ICU numbers have decreased by 1 from 97 to 96.

That's a truer state of where we are at in terms of the battle with this thing, when the last bad wave hit us in January there was TRIPLE the amount of people in hospital. This is only from 11th Jan, I think it actually got worse...

https://www.thejournal.ie/hospital-numbe...8-Jan2021/

I know the raw figures can seem overwhelming but it's so important to see how far we've come in battling this bloody thing. Yes we're seeing a bit of another wave but it's nothing like it was before because of a single key element and that's vaccination.
Irish media is obsessed with reporting case numbers and death numbers. RTE online today said that the oldest person to die with Covid was 105. That's a great age, but let's be honest, that person was an outlier already, Covid or not.

We can't live in fear, overall deaths per year haven't increased. Yes, we follow guidelines, but we have to live too. A lot of infected people are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, the majority of those with severe symptoms have comordities or are not vaccinated. We'll get through this.

Absolutely. Real bugbear of mine.
Hospital numbers, like you say, are what really matters now, and they're nowhere near as scary (albeit they are rising)...

RTE quoted a consultant saying half of those in a serious condition are unvaccinated and the other half were vaccinated people at high risk.

If we go into another lockdown we should be allowed to kill* unvaccinated people! Tongue

*frustrated joke
Ahh, so it's not really "hospital numbers are all that really matters" any more?

I'm being facetious of course. I don't *really* care since I don't come in contact with anyone anymore anyway.
I've managed to stay put for a few days, it's helping with the anxiety levels, but I'll have to go into classes on Wednesday, so trying not to even think about the unvaxxer numpty in the room as they sit far from me. Or the under nose maskers on the buses. It's fine. It's fine. Just in the one day this week as there's a gallery visit on Thursday that I'm not going to. I'm not panicking. Nope. Deeeeep breaths!

No, I was being silly. They do matter and the fact they're going up is definitely a concern. Personally, I'm not doing that much anyway, but I am going to carry on as normal. I wouldn't disagree with or criticise anyone for being nervous and more cautious though
I'll be honest, I'm more worried about more restrictions than Covid itself. I'm lucky not to have underlying health issues, but hopefully another booster will be made available for all who do.

Having said that I think people need to seriously think about work nights out and keep their socialising to their families and close friends.

It is transmissible even when vaccinated so try not to worry too much about those who aren't vaccinated. They aren't more likely to pass it to you but if you give it to them then its possible they may be sick.
I couldn't give less of a damn about Covid right now. It has turned this country in to a land of division and anger. We have become obsessed with health and illness. Some have lost all reason when it comes to saving lives and don't understand that people die, particularly the elderly.
Caution is chosen over living. When my number is up I don't want to regret not enjoying life as best I can.

With the person I know, they're most likely to catch it too, given their lifestyle and general disregard for others, and therefore more likely to pass it on. I can't help what worries me.

Smile doing my best to keep the anxiety down (sometimes a good rant sorts it!) and to mind myself physically as much as I can, plus covid safety as much as I can (also helps the anxiety). Obviously can't control what anyone else does, but can't help but get frustrated at times.
