I'm not either, but have total control over it. Pesky throat is starting to scratch again.

I'm not much of a fan of beef, so I think I send bad vibes when I'm(rarely) cooking it.

I can(kinda) cook an edible rib eye (don't like sirlion).

Granted, I wouldn't cook steak to serve to a guest, but it's decent enough for me lol
Superbowl go Rams and halftime show, Tupac resurrection?

I like my beef cremated
I had lovely roast beef for dinner today. To be fair, it was one of these prepacked roasts - comes in a foil tray, in a bag, and you just put it into the oven. It was cooked for 2.5 hours at 140 because it was brisket. It was so tasty! Definitely not rare though - how I prefer my steak!

I have totally given up on roast beef. I just don't even try any more.

Love gravy made from the juices, and I'd love to be able to cook it for that alone, but it's just one of those things in life that I've had to accept. I can't cook it   Sad

Yeah, going for the Rams too, but only because I dislike them less than the Bengals.  As for the half time show - the most painful 14 minutes of the year imo.  Probably because with one or two notable exceptions I can't remember any acts on that I'd actually pay money to see, including this year.

As for my beef, I don't like it blue or even rare simply because I hate lukewarm food, but it had better be bloody or it's being sent back.

Get a meat thermometer and you can't go wrong.  We do that the rare occasion that we buy a roast and it's perfect every time.  Ikea have an inexpensive one that does the job perfectly.

If you shop in SuperValu, try this, it was beef brisket with a garlic and herb butter, said easy carve on it. Think it was €10. Foolproof. And there was loads of juices for gravy!
Happy Valentines

Very quick visual brainstorm for my lino print assignment, we've to do a very simple kids picture story book, and to no one's surprise, I'm headed in the Doctor Who direction!

What's lino print?
Lino printing is great fun, unless you cut the wrong thing at the wrong time 🙈

You create a stamped picture with layered stamping.

You draw a design on lino and gouge/cut into the lino in relief to create like a stamper. You initially take away anything you want to stay white (or whatever colour your paper is), apply paint and stamp the design. Then you cut more out, apply another colour and stamp over the previous picture. Repeat for a number of colours until you have all the layers. It takes a lot of planning to ensure you cut things in the correct order/at the right time so they end up the colour you want.
It's a form of relief printing - you take a piece of lino (same as the flooring kind but without decoration), draw on some design, carve out the "blank" areas, roll ink over the top (all the bits not carved) and then flip it onto some paper to print! You have to do everything the mirror to how you want it to come out.

We were just talking about the reduction process today, a lot of artists now cut off the different sections like a lino jigsaw, so you don't end up losing everything
That sounds like hard work!

Ah it's not, it's one of the easier ones, one of those things you sort of have to try to see how easy it is

It is a long time since I did it 😁 And that sounds like a much better plan... we had these little v shaped scraping tools good for taking chunks out of fingers as well as lino 🙈🤣 It is fun though!

I have two identical sets, one for lino and one for mdf, because the mdf dust gets everywhere! I haven't done it in about 7 years, so excited to get going tomorrow morning
The National Public Health Emergency Team has agreed that the requirement to wear masks in most areas, where currently regulated, should end.

If accepted by Government, it would mean mandated mask wearing will no longer apply in schools, on public transport, taxis, in retail premises and in public offices.

It would also no longer apply to staff in customer facing roles, such as restaurants and pubs.

While I won't miss masks, it seems a little premature to me.  I would have expected them to continue the requirement for another few weeks at least just to be sure that the numbers are staying down. Admittedly I'm in a high risk group so I do have a more cautious view of them than most.

I agree, I'm quite surprised. NPHET have generally been very cautious though, so I presume it's well justified by the data. Easy for me to say though, I'm not particularly at risk.

It does sound like there'll still be fairly strong advice to keep wearing them for a while, it'll be interesting to see how many people do
I think an awful lot of people will continue to wear masks for a multitude of reasons. Like Zaph there will be those whose health dictates it.
I think some people like them because they provide a sort of comfort blanket, a way to hide themselves. Then there is the comfort provided against contracting Covid, a sort of psychological shield made in to a piece of cloth.

I also wonder about the power of being part of something, everyone in it together wearing a uniform that symbolises that togetherness. Then there is the righteousness that comes from feeling like you are doing the correct thing.

I actually believe mask wearing is quite a complicated business.
No matter though because at the end of the day people must be able to choose what is right for themselves.

As for the pandemic being over...well...it pains me to say this but I've an awful funny feeling. Maybe that's because of all the false hope so far. I don't know.

I must admit I thought they would keep them at a bare minimum for public transport, the poor staff on those buses and trams... *shudders* Thank God I don't use it very often!

I'll still be using mine for a while anyways, mainly cos I've an absolute fuckton of disposables that I'd rather see put to use than go to waste!!!

Our new office opened this week and I'll be there for the first time next week.  However given the location I'll be driving rather than using public transport from now on.  But if I was back on the train I'd definitely continue wearing a mask, particularly in the morning.  Tbh, wearing one on that train was probably a good idea pre-pandemic.  It was generally so crowded it was like a giant petri dish on rails.

I think we're supposed to escape the worst of it.  Dublin is one of the counties covered by the orange wind warning, but there's no suggestion that we'll get hit with the blizzard like conditions they're talking about for some parts of the country.  I think that's mostly due to hit the north west.

Why are they poor staff though?

They have no choice but to be there as it's their job, for everyone else it's optional (as in you don't have to jump onto that packed tram or bus full of germbags)

On the weather warning stuff, the schools are closed here tomorrow in Sligo which actually suits me perfectly as I've been doing the school runs all week which means I have to start and finish later. I've my own office so the kids being at home doesn't bother me  Big Grin
