Last day in the office today (last day in work tomorrow)
Been sat on a bus for over two hours now though... think there was an accident on the M4. I will not miss this commute. Hopefully we'll be in Maynooth before I start my next job... 🤞

I'm due to go back to the office 2 days a week at the end of this month, not looking forward to the commute.. Also I have to drive in so will probably cost me more in diesel than I actually make in a day!!
Wouldnt you think employers would be more considerate and allow people to stay out of the office as long as everything is being done. Particularly as this diesel / petrol price crisis continue. At this rate it wont be worth working at all.

Agreed, that clown elon musk was threatening his staff to come in or leave

Well it's his ship. If people want the job they will follow his rules or they will need to find other work. It isn't flexible or understanding of his staffs needs but that's just the way it is. I'd love to wear runners to work but I can't. I'd love to start late on a Wednesday because I hate early mornings. Such is life.
Tesla make real physical product. The vast majority of the 100k-odd employees would need to be present in their factories when working
Went to sci fi book club this evening, it was so awesome! No one had gotten too far on the book so my panic to get further was unneeded.

So was it just more a Sci fi club with optional book discussion!?  Wink

The ridiculous thing about that was he said that staff could work from home once they'd done 40 hours in the office in a week.  40 hours is a full week's work anyway, but the American work culture is so messed up I'd say you'd nearly be fired for only doing 40 hours a week in some places.
Well Done to all the Marathon participants

Well, Elon Musk has gone on record as stating that the optimum number of working hours per week is 80, so yeah, he's a piece of work to put it mildly. Whatever respect I once had for that guy has long since gone out the window.

Deskside here, just letting the day fade out. How are you guys keeping?
Not too bad here, contemplating going to bed to keep my somewhat fixed sleep pattern intact.

I still like Elon. Whatever about one small view or decision, i think on a greater scale, the world is better off for having an Elon musk than not having one!
I admire both spacex and tesla!
I think they are a positive on the world, not a negative!

80 hours a week? that's insane, surely there's a law against that but I guess even if there was Musk would hand out some brown paper envelopes and all would be forgotten, mean while his slaves are all keeling over from exhaustion.

Labor Laws in the US are awful, there is no limit on what employees have to work etc, employers just have to pay overtime on anything over 40 hours in a week, considering the amount of tax, college fee/loans, hourly rates, you will have most of the workforce working about 60-80 hours a week just to cover bills etc.
It's a lovely day out today, sun beaming, I'm craving a nice icy cider
Cloudy and heavy here, but having a nice chill day too Smile
Taking it easy over here today, the first day of my two weeks of PTO. Sweet FA on my agenda today. Still mostly housebound though...

How come your stuck at home? Hooray for holidays!

Had a pretty bad fall during a business trip back in May. Managed to twist my right knee, right ankle, bruise a couple of ribs and for some reason sprain my left hand, despite landing on my right side. Still trying to figure out how I managed that last part. My leg looked like a Jackson Pollock painting for a while and while I’m mostly back to normal, my right knee is still swollen and unsteady. Getting better every day though, and there’s no pain anymore, which is a huge thing for me.

Oh, and to literally add insult to injury, the whole thing happened right in front of some senior manager from our HQ in the US! I guess that’s one way of leaving an impression… pac
Yeowch! That sounds awful!
Yep, it wasn't fun. Getting home from Munich to Cork the next day was "interesting", to say the least, especially when you're flying from Munich, where the terminal (Terminal 1 at least) is just one loooooooooooooong narrow building and the moving walkways are out of action. Even with a visit to the doc and prescription painkillers it took about a week and a half until I could get a decent night's sleep again...
Eeeep! Have some virtual cake

That sounds rough and sore @thomil take care
Sorry to hear that, thomil. Dr. Leggy prescribes copious amounts of alcohol.
Nah, I'm staying dry for now. My knee is wobbly enough as it is Wink

That cake though, that looks amazing  Big Grin

Did you try walking on the walkways? In Germany now, Berlin, and have found out, don’t take a stopped walkway as an out of action walkway, just step on it and it may spring to life, from a power saving mode, with sensors to detect when it’s needed. Was nearly going to walk up loads of steps until the lass in front of us wizened us to this as when she stepped on to the escalator and it sprung to life, we quickly corrected course from manual steps to functioning escalator, and added power saving and escalators to our experience card.

Tried that, the escalators at Munich Central railway station had this, but those walkways were as dead as a T-Rex. I tried walking on them, but they definitely didn't move. The handrails made walking a little easier though.
Had to go as far as the gp and pharmacy, so wandered down to the only open place to get tea, had a nice muffin and read a chapter of Hitchhikers Guide. Was a nice way to kill an hour, though they could do with a few sofas or comfy chairs

So true!
The weather is so depressing, it's like autumn except muggy. 🙄
I love the rain but today can fcuk right off!

Horrible pelting down rain, then the sun beams out of the sky. Back n forth all day Dodgy
I agree about today. At work the heavens opened I would run to get my jacket, just as soon as you put it on the sun starts beating down so you have to remove jacket. Rinse and repeat all day. Rolleyes
Same here, car windows were up and down all afternoon while chilling with my friend.
I thought the weather was dodgy yesterday but today is taking the piss.
It's not too bad here at the moment. Pretty windy, but otherwise okay.

Just about to hop down to the local takeaway to pick up my dinner, hope I didn't jinx the weather with my statement above pac
