I hate wrapping presents. I'm crap at it, so it takes me ages to come up with something even half presentable. It's Toto's birthday next week - I really should remember each year to leave it at a single present to save myself the pain. Big Grin

A remake not needed or asked for
They should never attempt to remake icon movies, they will be too harshly judged and never measure up. Trying to force the "magic" again never works.
The cast of Home Alone 1 and 2, all of them, were spot on, just brilliant, gelled well together, chemistry with all
I only saw Home Alone for the first time a couple of years ago. I can honestly say there have been few films I've hated more, I really don't understand the love for it. I'm guessing it's because I wasn't a kid when it came out and I don't have that attachment to it as a result.

I haven't seen it, or the first one, so thanks for the heads up.  It's not so much that Home Alone is a bad film, a lot of the set pieces are very well done and very clever, it's more that I hated the characters and the cartoon violence.  I've no problem with someone being hit with an iron or whatever and being fine in the next scene in a cartoon, but not in a live action movie.  And I definitely sided with the mother and burglars, I would have left that annoying brat at home (and maybe not accidentally) or tried to inflict harm on him too!
@Zaph , thank you , that made me lol pac

I just had a flashback of dumping our Christmas tree in January as it was falling apart with age. I need to buy a new (artificial) tree this year if anyone can recommend a good place to buy one, 5hay doesn't cost 300/400 quid!

I was about to post saying that 300/400 for a Christmas tree is absolutely nuts, but a quick Google tells me it seems to be a thing WOW!

We got our tree for 50 quid from the local supermarket about 6 years ago and it's honestly the best tree we have ever had, I can't have a real one in the house as I get a rash from evergreens for some reason so we have no choice but to go artificial but this one is so good and barely sheds a thing year on year whereas some of the older ones we had would drop loads of stuff each year with use.

We got a new one last year in Arnotts.  Can't remember how much it cost, but they had a decent selection with a wide range of prices.

Not sure where you are, but if you're south Dublin then Christmasland in Goatstown is very good. Not sure when they open (it's a garden centre most of the year). I think they often have a few of last year's stock that they sell off cheap, that's how we got one. Really nice one, can't remember what we paid but it wasn't a lot

Yeah I posted here after my quick Google showed me these crazy prices!!

I had the best Christmas tree that I got in Argos for 50 quid, and left it with my flatmate when I moved out 5 years ago. Friends of mine moved in after and inherited my tree, and also commented on how great it was. It was perfect size and height. They moved out during the year and left it behind.

The one I dumped lost 4 or 5 branches when we put it up last year, and shedded constantly. I would find some of the tree appearing for a few months afterwards where it had shedded everywhere.

I'll keep an eye out for here too. I am still in shock at the prices of Woodies trees.

Just checked old whatsapp messages with my wife and can see we got the tree on 4th Nov, so around this time. I think they must open soon and offload any old stock first...? Worth a look, anyway (they seemed like a very good shop in general, but obviously a bargain is nice!)

Another vote for Homestore and More, they will have all Christmas stock at half price in either November or December. If you sign up for their newsletter you'll get an email each month with their special offers.
I'm in the market for a mini tree myself (3-4 feet to go on a table) but they all seem to be overpriced and fiber-optic crap. Must look at these recommendations thanks. Can't be spending crazy money on a tree. I do have a good one I got in a sale in Woodies for 60-70 ish, fab quality but too big for my current apartment so finally shipped it to my Dad's as I'm sick of the ancient crappy one we have there pac

it's not a christmas movie!
Wondering if I should buy a months netflix card to enjoy some cheesy made-for-tv christmas movies, this year... When do you suppose they start showing christmas movies? (I've never done netflix before)
Usually start of December they start rolling out the Christmas movies. If you're going for the months free trial I'd hold off till around 3rd/4th Jan and then you'll get Christmas and New Year out of your month Smile
They have a months free trial? That would be great! Great advice Necro, thanks!
