Didn't know a single song you posted 🤣🤣🤣

Heard of maybe 3/4 of the artists but that's about it!
I only knew the first song, and I think that was only because it was in Guitar Hero  pac

Will be flying home during the reveal so I'll catch up tonight

Likewise, except that it is more like I knew about 1/10 of the artists! Obviously Madonna is one of those! Yeah, I never heard that song before so I kept up my tally of no gold stars for songs submitted by @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick ! I was never overly keen on Madonna's songs with a number of exceptions. I am afraid this is not one of those exceptions!
Didn't know any of the songs, just a few of the artists, I'm goldless
I think one star for me, just the Nova Twins
I think 2 stars for me, Samantha Fox and Madonna today.
Okay, let's get this final show on the road...

Rascal Flatts - I'm Movin' On

(Charted at #4 in US Country)

Heard It Before: No

Review: Usually, a mellow slow song like this would be more often a miss rather than a hit for me, but there was something about this one that got under my skin in a good way and it was more than just a soppy ballad of a Country song. I think when it kicks it up a gear about half way through and all the different strings it introduces really elevated it for me, good choice
11th Place with 18 points is Tigger

Alison Moyet - That Ole Devil Called Love

(Charted at #1 in New Zealand)

Heard It Before: Yes

Review: This song has cropped up in a few games here in recent times, and I'll be honest I really disliked it the previous times I heard it, so I was assuming this would be taking up last place in this round, but actually as I properly listened to it for reviewing purposes, I started to develop quite an affection for it and it began bounding its way up the rankings, so even though I had heard it before, congratulations on converting me to the beauty of the song
9th Place with 22 points is ShaneU

L.A.B. - In The Air

(Charted at #1 in New Zealand)

Heard It Before: No

Review: This round probably had the most "grower" songs, in that there's quite a few that I wasn't crazy about on first listen, but the more I heard them, the more I started to appreciate them. This was one that I initially thought would be towards the back of the pack because on first listen, I just thought "meh", but I grew to love the laid back funky summery vibe it has going on, and it slowly but surely crawled it's way into the top half of the pack
Just as an FYI, I've only listed the highest charting position for each song, they may have also charted in other Charts/Countries within the top 10, but I've gone with the peak position I could find for each
12th Place with 16 points is Butty Brennan

Mouth and MacNeill - How Do You Do

(Charted at #1 in Belgium, Denmark, Netherland, New Zealand, and Switzerland)

Heard It Before: No

Review: There's a lot of great stuff going on this one, it has both a late sixties/early seventies hippie vibe to it, but also undertones of High School Marching Band playing half-time at an American Football game. Really loved it, can't fault it in any way, it was merely case of loving (or growing to love) those that ranked above it just that bit more
8th Place with 24 points is aaronjennings

Bella Poarch - Build A Bitch

(Charted at #5 in Malaysia)

Heard It Before: No

Review: I love the whole vibe of this song and the message behind it. It's one that grew on me a lot after multiple listens, because at first I probably dismissed it as being a bit too novelty, and I wrongly considered it to be merely a modern day "Barbie Girl", but that's an unfair comparison as there's far more going on. Ended up really loving it though and it rose up the rankings with each listen, so great selection
13th Place with 14 points is Edser

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - I Need Never Get Old

(Charted at #3 in Belgium)

Heard It Before: No

Review: Nice fun Country Jazz energy to this one that I really really enjoyed and I initially presumed this would be one of the higher ranked songs in this round, because it was one of the more upbeat numbers in a round with an awful lot of ballads and slower jams, but some of those ballads ultimately won me over and this fell further back as a result not quite delivering the highs that I felt those above it ultimately did
7th Place with 26 points is Jluv

The Cowsills - Hair

(Charted at #1 in Australia, New Zealand & Canada)

Heard It Before: No

Review: So I'm a fan of musicals, but until I heard this song, I had no idea that Hairspray and Hair are two entirely different musicals, so I'd been confusing the two and never seen this one as a result… I've seen Hairspray several times, but now I have to go and check out Hair, because this was great. Yeah, it's a tad novelty as an entry, but I really really like it as a song in its own right
14th Place with 12 points is osh

Can - Spoon

(Charted at #6 in Germany)

Heard It Before: No

Review: Submitting two songs from the same artist in the same game is a risky move, because if I didn't like the artist first time around, its unlikely they'll win me over when appearing later on, but in this case its almost the opposite, I loved Can so much in the first round that unfortunately this just paled in comparison to that epic eighteen and a half minutes of awesome, and failing to live up to such high expectations left the song flailing in the middle of the pack. I really liked it still, but compared to the previous Can entry it never quite took off for me
6th Place with 28 points is Hello 2D Person Below

The Kelly Family - I Can't Help Myself

(Charted at #1 in Norway, Netherlands, Norway & Switzerland)

Heard It Before: No

Review: Once I got past the whole creepy Children of the Corn vibe this band are giving off, and just sat back and listened to the music, it's a really lovely song and I'm surprised how much I actually warmed to it. There's a simplicity to it, but it's also kind of beautiful, especially when they start harmonising towards the end
15th Place with 10 points is Declan A Walsh

Yes - Wonderous Stories

(Charted at #6 in Ireland)

Heard It Before: No

Review: The band name Yes sounds familiar, but not sure from where, and I haven't heard the song before. It's really nice, I love the whole vibe going on, and its one that I imagine if I heard it live, I'd absolutely adore it, but ultimately it didn't quite win me over in the same way most of the songs in the round managed to and I couldn't justify to myself ranking any higher than this, but I did like it
5th Place with 30 points is Sawduck

5th Place with 0 points is Sawduck

Catatonia - Road Rage

(Charted at #5 in the UK)

Heard It Before: Yes

Review: So, in my mind, Catatonia were one of the biggest bands of the late '90s and Road Rage and Mulder and Scully I felt were megahits and I thought had spent many many weeks at #1 over here when they were both released, but looking at their discography neither even cracked the Top 10 in Ireland and the band overall probably weren't as popular as I had built up in my own memory. I was quite the fan of Catatonia though, this song in particular, so assumed they were massive, but maybe that was just me? Great song, but unfortunate choice as I know it so very well
16th Place with 8 points is Spears

Feduk & Allj - Розовое вино

(Charted at #1 in The Commonwealth of Independent States)

Heard It Before: No

Review: I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this one to be perfectly honest. At one point I had it in last place, as I just couldn't warm to it at all, but it is quite different to anything else in the round and after a while I started warming to it and it jumped up a few spots. Is it a song I'll likely listen to much after this game… probably not. But is it something different that I grew to appreciate and actually enjoy in the context of the game itself… yeah I genuinely did, so a pretty decent choice when all is said and done
4th Place with 32 points is E.N.

Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine - The Only Living Boy In New Cross

(Charted at #7 in the UK)

Heard It Before: No

Review: On first listen, I wasn't really feeling it to be honest, it didn't seem to stand out compared to a lot of the other songs in the round, and initially felt quite generic. On repeated listens though it became infectious and along with the Top 3, it became one of the ones I looked most forward to listening to, so bounded up the ranks, only just missing out on a podium place in this round
So that brings us to our Top 3 and Bottom 3 of the round, and those are in alphabetical order...

Nicki Minaj - Super Bass

(Charted at #1 in US Rhymic)

Heard It Before: Yes

Review: There are some Nicki Minaj songs I really enjoy quite a lot and other ones that I'm fairly indifferent to. This is one of the latter, I find it fairly 'meh' overall, but if it came on the radio or popped up randomly on a playlist I wouldn't switch over or move on to the next one, I'd nod along and enjoy it for three and a half minutes, but I wouldn't seek it out either, it's ultimately just fine… and also I already know it
3rd Place with 34 points is Kol

La Roux - Uptight Downtown

(Charted at #4 in Belgium)

Heard It Before: No

Review: Only know the big two hits from La Roux, "In For The Kill" and "Bulletproof", both of which I've always enjoyed, but this track is even better than those more known songs. A very catchy dance number and I just love the vibe of it, there was never any question it would be nabbing a spot in the Top 3 here, because it was one of the handful that I really really looked forward to hearing again between official review based listens
18th Place with 4 points is Necro

18th Place with 0 points is Necro

Oasis - Don't Go Away

(Charted at #1 in Canada Rock/Alternative)

Heard It Before: Yes

Review: Since all Oasis songs pretty much sound the same anyway, it could've been a toss up as to whether I knew this one already or not, but the music video gave it away even if the song itself might have managed to slip through the cracks in my memory, because I do recognise the music video, and this pops up on MTV '90s now and again, which I quite often on in the background on the auld telly box. I actually don't mind Oasis, they're fine, it's a nice enough song, but also "meh" and its probably lucky it didn't come last
2nd Place with 36 points is Wichita Lineman

Cassadee Pope - Wasting All These Tears

(Charted at #5 in US Country)

Heard It Before: No

Review: I've heard a few of Cassadee Pope's more recent singles and collaborations and while I've enjoyed them, they never stood out enough to convince me to go looking through more of her stuff, but this one is arguably the type of Country song I like most, it's quite simple, but also has a lot of emotion to it, and I couldn't get enough of it. Really loved this one, good stuff, and it was her first single so has convinced me to go check out her older stuff
Last Place with 2 points is jp liz v1

Russell Dickerson - Every Little Thing

(Charted at #1 in US Country Airplay and Canada Country)

Heard It Before: No

Review: On paper this should've been a home run, a Country Dance song, that's a subgenre I can really get behind, and I actually really like the arrangement and the music itself, but I can't say that I'm a fan of Russell Dickerson's voice and it drags it way down for me. I've never heard of him before, but the impression I got from the music video is that he seems a bit of a dick, and I just couldn't warm to him as a performer unfortunately, which ruined the overall experience and ultimately I found Oasis more tolerable, so this bagged last place
1st Place with 38 points is Irish Aris

Les Rita Mitsouko - Marcia Baïla

(Charted at #2 in French SNEP Singles Chart)

Heard It Before: No

Review: Discovering songs like this is the reason Walruses were invented. It is just pure joy and an absolutely delightful piece of music. As I mentioned in an earlier round, discovering great '80s songs I didn't know already is always such a treat. Adored it from the very first listen and there was never any doubt that it would be sitting at the very top of the rankings in this round. Excellent choice, this is going on all of my playlists
Which means we have a 3-way tie for 1st place and our winners of Walrus: Double or Nothing are...

ShaneU, E.N., and Irish Aris

On the other end, Necro runs away with the Wooden Spoon having been caught with zero twice...

Until Next Time!
Congrats to the 3 winners 🏆🏆🏆
Happy spooning @Necro ..
I struggle in the music competitions but have enjoyed listening to music I probably would never have come across. A few from tonight look very interesting to me and will listen to them all tomorrow.
Thanks @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick . Rea!!y like your style of rating. It's obvious that you really put in the time to listen to all the entries multiple times. 👏👏
Congrats to @ShaneU @E.N. @Irish Aris well played.
And thanks for the fun game @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick

I did much better than I expected
Congratulations to the triumphant trio @E.N. @Irish Aris and @ShaneU Big Grin

No duck eggs, and a decent position in the table, that is infinitely better than I expected. I thought my Round 4 choice would either score last place, zero points, or both Big Grin. So I'm glad you enjoyed it

Many thanks for a great game @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick , I really need to set an evening aside to get through all the songs in this thread Smile
Congratulations @ShaneU (again!!), @E.N. and @Irish Aris . Good job @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick .

As regards the last round, I thanked the songs I liked. Songs I knew already were by Alison Moyet (@Tigger ), Catatonia (@Sawduck ) and Carter (@E.N. )….as well as mine! Standout for me was actually the winning song by @Irish Aris .

@Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick - Hair the musical has been around a lot longer than Hairspray. It’s kind of hippy and ir’s most well-known song is The Age of Aquarius. Yes were a British prog rock albums band for many years but had a big hit in the ‘80s, including Number 1 in the US, with Owner of a Lonely Heart.

This was a pure random pick, I didn't have a clue what a to pick, I'd never even heard the song before  Big Grin
Thanks for running this @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick . Very entertaining. I am delighted with my high finish in the final round which kept me away from the bottom of the table! Congrats to the triple crown winners @ShaneU @Irish Aris & @E.N.

WHOO-HOO! Big Grin

Just catching up. Three way tie? Clearly rigged Tongue

Well done @Irish Aris, storming through in the outside lane there. Thanks @ShaneU for easing up in the last round to leave the door open for us Wink

Great game Soapy, the added twist was a great idea and generated some really interesting picks. Haven't had a chance to listen to today's yet but looking forward to it

Glad you liked Carter. I'm always a little wary of entering songs from my teenage years, especially local (South London) bands as context means so much with music. I have such strong memories of them that others wouldn't have, so I'm delighted when the music itself is well received. And I love Only Living Boy... so much Smile
Well I have discovered some great new artists and songs

Until I updated the scores from the last round into excel yesterday, I thought Shane still had a clear lead and that no one could catch him (to be fair, I'm useless at maths), let alone two of you pulling it out of the bag at the final hurdle...
