I have never heard that song or act before. That song is an instant turnoff for me I am afraid. Sorry! I have no problems keeping track of my gold stars so far!  Big Grin

Might not be the best sign of things to come, if Glass Spiders is an instant turnoff for you as its one of my favourite songs of the 21st Century so far... Possibly doesn't bode well for our tastes alligning going forward, does it?  Tongue

I actually can't remember which song from Something New is the one you sent in though (won't match up the players to their songs until the weekend when I need to prepare scoreboards, etc.), so that's pure speculation and taunting on my part for the time being... pac

Okay, so the new game is here... It looks a bit complicated because of the new elements I had to explain in the OP, but its actually really straightforward, so hope that most of you will hop on board...

Really liked that Hot Milk song @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick

Haven't heard the song or of the band. I'm going to look them up & see if I like anything else by them 👌

i'm gonna lose this game
Don't know yesterdays act or song. Didn't like it much at first but it is actually not bad. Going to check out some more from them
This next one is definitely Something New... Only released last Friday, I'm hoping that means none of you have heard it yet...

Loved it as soon as I heard it...

Bebe Rexha - Heart Wants What It Wants

It is just okay. I never heard of her before.
Only came across this one fairly recently myself, so hopefully not one people will know...

TOMI - If I Wasn't Yours, Who Was I

Not only have I not heard this song before, I have not heard of this act. I like it.
Haven't heard of any of the acts or songs. Liked song No.1. song No.2 wasn't for me. Love Song No 3 though!!

I think that's a fairly good summation of how most people will feel about the songs I'm sharing here to be fair... Since I pretty much like all styles and genres (which is quite rare, and the majority of people tend to find a handful genres/styles they like and then aren't too keen on anything outside of those), I'm kind of doing a general mish mash of everything with these songs in between rounds, so they will be quite polarising - there'll be ones some of you like and the rest of you don't, but if I manage to introduce people to at least one or two that they enjoy that they hadn't heard before that's all I'm aiming for.
Here's my next selection, I'd be surprised if anyone did know it, but then again some of you are quite surprising...

Tom Rasmussen - Dysphoria

I never heard that song before, but I'm not sure if the name Tom Rasmussen rings a bell - possibly saw the name written down somewhere. It's a tolerable enough song.
Almost forgot to post here today and all morning I felt I was forgetting something, but couldn't quite put my finger on it...

Anyway, for today's selection I have gone with...

Morgan Wade - The Night (Part 2)

Yet another act I never heard of before, or the song. It does not do much for me I am afraid.
Lets go with something upbeat for a Sunday, with a music video starring Barry from EastEnders its...

Deco - Rain

Again I don't know either artist or songs. Morgan Wade song. Don't love it don't hate it.
Deco...how could you not bop along to that😜 really like it and the video is cute..

Never heard this song or act before. It is a catchy dancey number alright! Overall it is a pleasant little number.
The Round 2: Something New Reveal will take place this evening at approximately 18.30

It was another tough one, as the standard was once again really strong

Here's one more from me for this round, I'm sure you've all heard of this guy, he's a bit like the Nickelback of solo artists, in that everyone unjustifably seems to hate on him despite his music being perfectly enjoyable...

John Mayer - Last Train Home

Not a bad song, Johnny Depp is doing alright for himself

Never heard of him or the song, I have to say. It has a bit of an '80s vibe to it. It reminds me of a few songs. It is a pleasant little number - okay in the background.
Slightly earlier than scheduled, but going to kick off this reveal now, as I need to wrap it up a little bit sooner this evening...

Animals As Leaders - CAFO

Heard It Before: No

Review: This was one of the first songs, if not the first, I listened to in this round and I fully expected it to be in the Top 3 of this round on that initial listen, as I love a good lengthy instrumental piece and there was a whole lot of epicness going on in this one. Once more songs started coming in though, it became quickly apparent that it was going to be a case of such a high standard across the board that songs that would have in previous games being at the very top of their rounds would be in the middle of the pack or lower, and honestly the songs between #3 and #15 in this group were almost playing musical chairs they were changing spots so much every time I listened through, so it was a great round to listen to, but a tough one to judge.
11th Place with 18 points is Wichita Lineman

Marie Neffah - The Cage

Heard It Before: No

Review: This is one I looked forward to in between listens to quite a bit, because I can't get enough of the little claps in the chorus. Claps aside, it's a fantastic song, lovely bluesy/jazzy vibe to it, great easy listening, but still has a bit of attitude to it, which I really like. Hadn't heard of Marie Neffah before, but will check out some more of her stuff off the back of this. Really nice pick for the round, a strong entry and as much as I'd love to give 13 songs joined 3rd place here, that's not really how the game works. It came down to the smallest of preferences to separate them at all.
9th Place with 22 points is Irish Aris

Arkells - Eyes On The Prize

Heard It Before: No

Review: I have heard quite a few songs from Arkells and really like their stuff in general, and this was no exception. Wasn't one of theirs I was familiar with as I haven't done a deep dive into their stuff, but it's probably about time I did. Had no idea they've been knocking about since about 2008 though, I thought they'd only come on the scene in the last few years, so looks like I'll have a lot to listen to to even make a dent in their discography. Great song for the round, but as I said the standard was so high that ranking was very tough
12th Place with 16 points is aaronjennings

Chloe Dolandis - Daylight

Heard It Before: No

Review: Really great song, I love the upbeat energy to it and her voice is great. I'm nocturnal by nature and the sun hurts my eyes, so I usually wouldn't be a big fan of daylight, but in this instance I would say I'm a fan of Daylight. Not much else to say on this one, solid choice, can't fault it, and really really enjoy it, just another very strong round
8th Place with 24 points is Spears

Chaoseum - My Wonderland

Heard It Before: No

Review: Never heard of Chaoseum before, but this is great, will definitely check out more of their stuff after this. The lead singers voice is class, it's not too harsh and has a nice velvety softness to it which really elevates the whole thing, they could've gone shouty with it and it just wouldn't have worked at all, so it perfectly balances the heavy with the smooth. Had this a good bit further down the ranks initially, but on the last few listens it bounded up from the mid-teens to secure 8th place
13th Place with 14 points is Butty Brennan

Tyler Hubbard - Dancin' In The Country

Heard It Before: No

Review: I know Tyler Hubbard from Florida Georgia Line, and in fact I'd say he's the stronger half of Florida Georgia Line both vocally and personality wise (not that I have any reason to dislike Brian Kelley, I just always felt he was playing second fiddle to Hubbard). Anyway, wasn't aware that Hubbard was releasing solo stuff, so this was a pleasant surprise, really upbeat and catchy modern Country song, and I really loved it
7th Place with 26 points is Edser

7th Place with 0 points is Edser

Imogen Heap - Hide & Seek

Heard It Before: Yes

Review: Oooof, we have a major casualty… That's rotten luck, because from about 2005 to 2009 (basically until Jason Derulo sampled it in Whatcha Say) this was a favourite song of mine. Derulo's sample and the overplaying of Whatcha Say took some of the shine off it for me, and I stopped listening to Imogen Heap's version for years, but I still love it and put it back into my heavy rotation of On Repeat songs a few years back. Part of me feels bad giving such an amazing song a big ole zero, but the host part of me who lives for drama can't help but enjoy it slightly - just goes to show how dangerous this game can be… You would've had 26 points here if I didn't know it… that's gotta sting!
14th Place with 12 points is jp liz v1

Kina Grannis - Ours To Keep

Heard It Before: No

Review: I've heard some of Kina Grannis before, mostly covers she's done, and I really like her voice. This is one of her own ones I believe and it's really good, I loved the rawness to it and how stripped back it is. That said, if there had been a bit more arrangement to it, a couple of more instruments introduced towards the end or maybe a couple of backing sings coming in and adding a few harmonies, I might have bumped this up another couple of spots, but its only a very minor critique, it's a very good track

Roo Panes - A Message To Myself

Heard It Before: No

Review: There's a couple of songs in this round that really got under my skin, in the best possible way. The type of thing you'd listen to while in the middle of an existiential crisis to help you face your emotions. There's a sadness and feelings of lament to the whole piece, but the voice is hypnotic and angelic which is quite uplifting, so I really love that whole juxtaposition that's going on here. Really really strong choice.

Fugazi - Life & Limb

Heard It Before: No

Review: I've heard of Fugazi through other people, but have never actually checked out any of their music. I really like this one, and wish I could rank it higher, but I'm really struggling to rank the songs at all and it's just minor preferences separating songs for me, and this is where this one ultimately landed for me compared to the others. They feel like a band I'd love to have seen live if they were still knocking about, because I can picture hearing this live in the likes of Whelans and it has some vibes to it that would sound even better listening to it with a crowd of other people
5th Place with 30 points is E.N.

Paddy Dennehy - Snow Song

Heard It Before: No

Review: This is another one of those hauntingly beautiful songs that just makes you feel feelings whenever you listen to it and while there may not appear to be a whole lot going on with the song at the very beginning it builds to a great crescendo with more instruments being introduced, and overall it packs a hell of an emotional punch. Always nice to discover a new Irish Artist that I wasn't aware of too and I'll be sure to check out Paddy Dennehy the next time he's performing up in Dublin. Excellent song, great stuff
16th Place with 8 points is Jluv

Patrick Freeman - Butterfly

Heard It Before: No

Review: Holy Elevator Music, Batman! And I mean that in the nicest possible way, I would really enjoy a long elevator ride in some massive skyscraper if this was playing all the way up. It also sounds a bit like the score you hear in SpongeBob SquarePants, its certainly giving off Bikini Bottom vibes (that's where SpongeBob lives by the way, I'm not talking about swimming attire). If anything I think I'd have ranked it a little bit higher if it was just pure instrumental, I could take or leave the vocals, they don't necessarily bother me, but nor do they add anything, so I'd just scrap them entirely. Really enjoyable though, I wasn't in to it at first, but it definitely grew on me on repeated listens
4th Place with 32 points is Kol

The Neighbourhood - Scary Love

Heard It Before: No

Review: This was a bit of a sleeper hit for me. Really enjoyed it on first listen and then it dropped a good bit down the rankings for a few listens, before rebounding back up in force and cementing it's place just outside the Top 3. Actually, only for the fact the Top 3 are so strong, this would've been a very worthy round winner. I can't even put my finger on why it fluxuated in the rankings so much early on, because listening to it now I really adore it. Excellent choice.
That brings us to our Top 3 and Bottom 3 of Round 2: Something New
