Speaking of Commercial Breaks, let me take a moment to tell you about my next game, for which sign-ups are already open...

It's a TV Sitcom Walrus, there's a new scoring system and reveal dynamic being introduced, so there's a lot of explanation involved in the OP, but here's what's necessary for entry...

You'll submit 12 sitcom episodes, all under 30 minutes...
3 from the dawn of TV up until the end of 1983
3 from the beginning of 1984 to the end of 2000
3 from the beginning of 2001 onwards
3 wildcards selections from any era

For further details, it's all over in the sign-up thread (linked below), but those are the basics...

And now back to the Top 3 and Bottom 3 Reveal...

Eminem ft. Lil Wayne - No Love

Heard It Before: No

Review: Aside from the two tracks he did with Rihanna, I've really paid zero attention to Eminem since about 2005, I don't really care for his music generally. Don't think I've listened to Lil Wayne before at all, but wouldn't be rushing to hear anything else he has done anyway. Before listening, I was ready to throw it straight in to dead last. Despite all that I just said though, I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. That "What Is Love?" sample is certainly doing a lot of the heavy lifting, but to be fair I'm actually enjoying all of Eminem's bits here, both the singing and rapping. If he ditched the other lad, I might have even put this up another few spots

The Struts - Could Have Been Me

(Skip to 1:18 for the start of the song)

Heard It Before: No

Review: Getting mad Freddie Mercury vibes from the lead singer and I can't get enough of it… The whole production is a bit like Queen meets Franz Ferdinand by way of The Darkness, which I'm absolutely here for. It almost has a timeless sound to it because of that, it wouldn't really sound out of place anywhere from the 1970s up until present day. I would've guessed it might be early '00s, but I see it was released in 2013. Really strong entry, and great introduction to The Struts
Fucking hell Necro what is that abomination of a song  Tongue
18th Place with 4 points is Declan A Walsh

The Thrills - Found My Rosebud

Heard It Before: No

Review: I know a few from The Thrills and I by no means dislike their music, however I don't think it would be unfair to say that a lot of their songs sound pretty much the same. From the ones I've heard anyway, this is very The Thrills by the numbers for me. It's a nice song, easy enough to listen to, I find myself tapping my foot and singing along, if it came on the radio I wouldn't switch the station, but it just doesn't "pop" enough to elevate it any higher
2nd Place with 36 points is Hello 2D Person Below

Nilüfer Yanya - Baby Blu

Heard It Before: No

Review: I've seen the name Nilüfer Yanya pop up on my YouTube Recommendations recently, but had not gotten around to checking any of her stuff out, but if all of her music is along these lines, I can see why YouTube is telling me to listen to her, because I really love it. It's a really close second place here, because it was the Top 2 in this round that stood head and shoulders above the rest of the songs, and I've loved nearly all of the songs in the round, so that is high praise for Nilüfer Yanya here, as well as the round topper of course…
Last Place with 2 points is Tigger

Messiah J & The Expert - Bloodrush

Heard It Before: No

Review: It's nice to hear Irish people rap, and I did quite like this, but it never really took off for me or stood out enough in a round that had so many songs that I really loved. It just didn't bring a huge amount to the table for me unfortunately by comparison to everything else. Interesting entry, but wasn't its day today, and something has to come last unfortunately
So it appears ShaneU will claim the top spot for this round, but the big elephant in the room is...

Did I already know the song beforehand?
Honestly if I were to rank anyone in #1 and then give them a big 0, it would obviously be Shane, wouldn't it?  Wink
Haha don't you dare pac

Hatchie - Quicksand

Heard It Before: No

Review: So this is pretty much the sort of stuff I listen to most often at the moment, anything with this kind of vibe, but I had never heard of Hatchie before, and I love her already based on this song alone, can't wait to check out more of her stuff, her voice is spot on from me. As far as I'm concerned it's a perfect song, I can't fault it and I'd happily listen to it on repeat for hours. Excellent choice, as soon as I heard this one, I never had any doubt it would be the winner of the round
So Shane take top spot in the Round and also takes the lead in the overall game, while Edser had a disaster of a round, walking away with nothing despite ranking high, and falls back into last place, but the game is young and with upsets aplenty (thanks to the twist) on the horizon, it's still all to play for

Thanks for the reveal @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick and well done @ShaneU

Some great songs here
That Nilufer Yanya song is brilliant. Nice to have a game where you can find new songs instead of... I dunno... Don't look back in anger winning for example pac
Congrats @ShaneU !
Ouch @Edser 😠
Happy out with my 8 points and your review @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick made me chuckle. I like the vibe of the song especially if I'm driving, relaxed and having a little sing along...
Will listen to all and add some thanks as I do.

Paddy Dennehy - Snow Song

Heard It Before: No

Review: This is another one of those hauntingly beautiful songs that just makes you feel feelings whenever you listen to it and while there may not appear to be a whole lot going on with the song at the very beginning it builds to a great crescendo with more instruments being introduced, and overall it packs a hell of an emotional punch. Always nice to discover a new Irish Artist that I wasn't aware of too and I'll be sure to check out Paddy Dennehy the next time he's performing up in Dublin. Excellent song, great stuff

Delighted you liked it. I'll happily take 5th, especially as I decided I entered the wrong song!

I only discovered him myself before Christmas. This was the first song I heard so I'm biased towards it but now that I've lived with his album a while there's a few I'd pick ahead of it. I'd encourage anyone to listen to his debut album, Little Light, as it's brilliant, especially if you like emotive folk music

His second album comes out next month, gig announcements due this week apparently

Looking forward to listening to the rest tomorrow, sounds like there were some great tunes again Smile

Good work again Soapy, thanks!
I can honestly say that I had not heard of the majority of the artistes submitted in this round, and only one where I could name any songs (Eminem) besides my own choice! I will have a listen to the entries and Thank them if I like them!
Having listened to each of the entries, the only ones that really did much for me (apart from mine of course!) was @osh (Fugazi) and @Hello 2D Person Below (Nilüfer Yanya). I had heard of Fugazi before but this is the first time that I really found a song by them memorable. The latter, though, is a real find.
Again, I'm so surprised by not not knowing ANY of the songs submitted!

Was a really great round.
@Kol 's was my favourite

Pmsl at what you said about @Jluv's song 😆
Sorry Jluv ❤ but it was spot on 😆

Also sorry, but @Edser's song was very weird to me. I don't get that type of song at all 😬
@Spears not a problem at all! I laughed at the review..I was focused on finding something he wouldn't know so I succeeded 😜
I fear I may have another "entertaining" entry to come☺️

Chaoseum - My Wonderland

Also delighted with the placing of this song 🥳

I'm aware that at least two of my submissions would be classed as a bit on the heavy side & most people probably won't even listen til the end.
Both of them (this song & the female round) are my new favourite bands so I've no regrets no matter the scoring 😋

Although I'm glad you did enjoy this song @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick😎

I went out there with some of my submissions too. In the hopes of at least scraping a point or two just from songs that (hopefully) weren't known 😁

Having any of them liked would be both a bonus, and a surprise! 👌🤓
Some nice good new tracks this round

It's a little too late
To say that you're sorry now
You kicked me when I was down
But what you say just don't hurt me
It don't hurt me, no more.
Next round reveal will be next Monday evening...

The Female of the Species is the theme for Round 3, and over the next 7 days, I'll share some songs I'm a big fan of that fit the category, and that hopefully you haven't heard already... First up...

SIIGHTS - Fake It

Never heard of this song or act before. It's okay - no strong feelings about it either way!

That's good, but safe to say I've gone for a slightly different style with my submission 🤣
Listened to yesterday's podium. The top two just weren't my style, but really liked The Struts from @Sawduck, cracking tune. Listening to more of them now, I thought I recognised the name but the songs don't seem familiar, liking what I'm hearing though Smile
Still going. @DejaBoo, that Roo Panes tune is excellent! From what I've heard so far I think I'd have had that top. As Soapy said, gets right under the skin

@Edser, unlucky! I'd have wiped you out too, but that's because I know Imogen's tour manager, sometime drummer and producer, backing singer (different people, all brothers Tongue)
Soapy's Selection for today is...

Sara Bareilles - Poetry By Dead Men

Not sure if I heard of her before or not, but I certainly did not hear the song before. I have mixed feelings about the song. I like the chorus and the vocals.
I would almost place money on @Declan A Walsh really not being a fan of my song selection for tomorrow... Tongue

Actually, I imagine quite a lot of you really not liking it, but I love the duo in question and in between rounds is where I can share stuff I'm a fan of whether anyone else likes 'em or not, so I figured why not, in this game mine is the only opinion that matters anyway...  pac

Makes mental note to be extra critical of E.N.'s remaining entries... Big Grin

You'll definitely dislike what a I have to offer up tomorrow by the way... Pure Bubblegum Electro Pop at its absolute finest, an absolute joyful experience, that you're far too cynical and jaded to appreciate...   Tongue
Todays song is grand, I really like her voice though so going to check what else she has
