Went to see the new Batman yesterday, really enjoyed it.

They've gone their own way and made it very different in characterisation and style, which I think is very important. Makes it tough to compare directly to the Nolan ones, but realistically it's not at that level. It is a worthy addition though, and I wasn't convinced it would be. Pattinson is excellent in it, and again I wasn't convinced when I heard he was cast. The cinematography is great, some of the scenes could be framed and hung on a wall

I know this is a cliché, and a silly complaint when I'd gone to see Batman, but the trailers were a new Jurassic Park, the next Marvel (Dr Strange) and Top Gun. So much rehashing!
Fresh is a fleshy rom dramedy, don't eat when watching but Sebastian Stan is still oh la la la
Oscars tonight, hoping Coda does well
Had a movie day, watched Venom Carnage and the latest Spider Man. Very much enjoyed both. And the giant pile of popcorn I made because the butler took the day off
Bruce Willis’ family has announced the actor is retiring from the profession after being diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder caused by brain damage that affects a person’s ability to communicate

I never heard of it either

He has some legendary roles especially Die Hard

I enjoyed Moonlighting even though him and Cybill didn't get on, great chemistry on screen

The Last Boy Scout, Pulp Fiction, Blind Date and Death Becomes Her all great

I wish him well, doesn't sound like a nice illness.

Regarding his acting career, all the above roles were great but such a long time ago. He hasn't had a starring role in anything great in quite some time and by all accounts, he is or at least was, a nightmare to work with.

Again, wish the guy well though I won't miss his acting all that much.

The two Red movies were good fun, but tbf John Malkovich steals the show in them.
I recently watched him in Friends, funny in that role but yes he has many stinkers in the past decade or so
This year's Razzies had a special category - Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie. He was in 8 movies last year, all of them stinkers, by all accounts.

Surprised there wasn't a Nicolas Cage category while they were at it 🤣

Read a really good interview with him recently. He lost loads of money, was massively in debt. Rather than declare bankruptcy, as he was advised, he decided he'd work his way out of it. So he started doing loads of films, with not too much quality control. And he did it, he's now debt free and says he'll ease up and be more picky now. He came across as a really nice guy

Quote:What followed his father's death and his financial ruin was a decade-long odyssey to do as many movies as possible for as much money as possible to pay his debts. Movies which sometimes had summaries that began, “John Milton escapes from hell and steals Satan's gun.” In the years since going broke, Cage appeared in 46 movies, an experience he likens to “a conveyor belt.” (By comparison, in that same time, Brad Pitt made 19, Tom Cruise, 11, and Leonardo DiCaprio, 9.)

I see Disneyplus is finally launching here in June, 8/m or 80/y
That looks steep, no word of an introductory price. That's probably the same price as back home. I get Netflix for half that price. Doubt I will be signing up.

I find it very good value for the content but I'm a huge marvel nerd, and I don't have any other subscriptions. I think if you have kids, it's probably better value. And absolutely not worth it if you have an alternative that suits you.
I went to see the new Downton Abbey film, I think I enjoyed it more than the 2019 one (I am a Downton fan) 😁

When I saw the ads I thought Violet was saying she had got herself a fella in the south of France instead of a villa. I think that would have been a more fun storyline Big Grin
Well ... 😅 maybe she might have, you'll just have to watch it 🤣
I also went to see the new Downton Abbey movie and as I was a fan of the TV series I really enjoyed it and maybe we'll get a third movie yet?

Went to see Top Gun: Maverick in the cinema last night and really enjoyed it. After all I went to the original in the cinema so it would be rude not to!

Despite costing nearly $100 million, Batgirl has been canned and will never be released. They are afraid the film would damage the franchise beyond repair!
I was looking forward to seeing Keaton play Batman again.  Sad

Apparently Affleck is replacing Keaton as Batman in Aquaman

I thought Netflix or Disney might air BatGirl, waste of a film
