Well done @Spears, that sounds like a great improvement!
I was also going insane in my last job and am happy to be finished, but I don't have a job lined up
I work short term contracts, so it was planned. Hoping not to get more work until we're in the new house, but still don't know when that's going to be, so fingers crossed it's soon

After having a rough couple of months in the last job. Was getting fed up going in every day so decided to move on before I exploded, or end up hospitalised .
New place has a higher wage & is closer to home. It's similar enough work but seems like it might be a little less demanding.
Everyone I met in the office seemed to be really friendly and laid-back so I've been really looking forward to starting.
Fingers crossed!
Good luck. It really is an employees market out there at the moment and the employers know it.

Hopefully everything works out for you too .
It not always easy changing jobs, but it's better to call it a day when you know that its no longer suiting you.
I hadn't anything lined up when I handed in my notice, but I knew it was the right time to leave.
Luckily though, I did end up finding something else.

Thanks Neowise.
That's so true.
I was actually getting a bit worried myself because I thought I was being a bit too selective. (Covid has had a big influence on what I want).
I had been to a few interviews, and offered positions, but decided not to take them because I felt that I would be walking into the same situation as before.
The place I'm going to now though seems like it was worth the hassle.
I got a great feel from interview, and the rest of the staff I was introduced to were all very welcoming.
Time will tell, but I'm feeling positive...

Well, how was it after day one ?
I mean important things, like were there bickies with the tea at eleven ?

It was a grand first day. They seem like a lovely bunch. Very easy to get on with, as am I, so I'm sure I'll slot in just fine.
I didn't spot any bickies(yet), but there is tea on tap, so all is well !

I spent the best part of an hour playing with a tuxedo kitten I met on my way home from the doctors, they can't have older than a year, they were so playful, I was swishing a piece of grass back and forth and they were going mental trying to catch it .

We were supposed to be going back to the office a few days a week soon, but it's been postponed
I don't mind the being in the office part, but I have a long commute & would have to drive it so would cost a huge amount in diesel, even for only a couple of days a week

This year has been an absolute disaster. I wouldn't know where to start explaining what's gone wrong.
There's been disease, a death in the family, financial stress, nearly ended up homeless, more disease and deaths, work stress, add a war and a refugee. So much negativity all around me that I told myself that I'm cursed. Most nights it was impossible to get some sleep
But finally, things are slowly falling into place. It's been a stressful year, and I'm happy I made it to my birthday in one piece. (I'd drink to that but I'm sick )

London tomorrow for the long weekend with the eldest of our brood. Will be nice to catch up with some of the family I haven't seen since before Covid. Plus the match of course....

Finished four weeks of Jury Duty last week😫
Also can't believe how laid back my new job is compared to working retail. Only realizing now just how stressed and overworked I was before. Trying to run a store with a skeleton crew on a miniscule budget for one of the biggest retailers in the country drove me up the wall.
