Abramovich is selling Chelsea. Shall we have a whip round?

Then run them into the ground 😜

Send em back to mediocrity  Smile

It's funny, I'm a United fan so obviously Liverpool would be the big rivals, but underneath that there is at least a respect for the history and traditions of the club. Clubs like Chelsea & Man City are so difficult to like because of how they got successful.

Will be interesting to see how opinion changes on Newcastle in the coming years. They will probably have decent media support for the next 3-4 years but if/when they become the new Man City I expect to see that good will fall away!

I was only half paying attention to the match, but what I saw United were shocking. City just tore them asunder and they were just toying with them towards the end playing keep-ball.

United were grand until we scored, kinda went downhill a bit, we did seem to have a plan in the first half and were executing it.. there were still OK after City got the second but seemed that was a blow for them too.. second half United were dogshit and looked like Pep adjusted somewhat and United were chasing shadows for the whole second half.  It was ridiculous and then when you see shit like above in real time, jaysus I nearly threw my phone out the window..  I'd love to sell them all and start from scratch! Maybe keep one or 2.

De Gea, Shaw, McTominay (for effort moreso than ability) and Sancho, that's about all who deserve to be there at the moment
Chelsea are fooked! Abramovic sanctioned and they can't sell match tickets (though season ticket holders can still attend). Even the club's merchandise shop has to shut!
wow, how does it affect player and staff wages?

He's not allowed to sell the club either!

They can still pay those, and limited costs...

BBC Sport Wrote:The government says it will issue a special licence that will allow fixtures to be fulfilled, staff to be paid and existing ticket-holders to attend matches.

Season-ticket holders can still attend games for which they have tickets but the club cannot now sell any more tickets.

The club's merchandise shop will also be shut.

They can continue to pay current contracts but cannot negotiate new player contracts, player transfers or sell any merchandise....

That means Rudiger, Christensen definitely gone in the summer

I'm going to the Everton Wolves game tomorrow, please let there be goals

As long as they're Wolves goal, may there be a dozen for you.
I forgot the awkwardness of sitting with the home fans and pretending to care when they play shite, which is most times I've been to Goodison

Only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone (albeit with games in hand) 😬

2 wins in 21 PL games (3 draws as well)

Frank Lampard proving once again he can't organise a defence - terrible decision to hire him.

I've nothing against Everton, they're one of those big teams that should always be in the Premier League imo.  But I want to see any team with Lampard in charge suffer ongoing weekly humiliation and relegation every season he remains with them.  Not that Leeds fans hold a grudge against Lampard or anything... Wink

I've no issue with Lampard and his team of the moment suffering brutal humiliation on a weekly basis  Big Grin
Sounds like we're co-hosting Euro2028!

Today's the deadline for applications and our Johnny bid with the UK is the only submission.

Turkey were going to bid, but having failed with their last couple of bids they've decided against it. Italy are now focusing on the following tournament and Russia is no longer under consideration.

Seen conflicting reports about where might host games. Aviva obviously, and it sounds like Croker is quite likely. Few reports say that would be it, but I saw one mentioning Páirc Uí Chaoimh as well.

Would be fun. I went to the Euros in 08, 12 and 16, it's always a great buzz in host cities.
Yeah I'd imagine we will get two groups, two quarters and a SF? Dublin will most likely have most of the games but be great if they could get somewhere like Pairc UI Caoimh a game or two as well.

There's some talk of they're being 32 teams, if so that would be 63 games.

Germany has ten venues for the next one, so if we had two you'd imagine that would mean about 20% of the games, so maybe 12 matches?

They usually split these tournaments on logistics. So we might get one group and a few knock out matches. Even with 2 venues, we might not get that many matches.

Would be great to get something this big in Ireland. The only big football match we have hosted that I can remember was the Europa League final one year.
It is funny, originally there was some talk of the English FA bringing us (and, to a lesser extent, Wales and Scotland) on board because they knew they wouldn't get votes by themselves as everyone hates them. Now it's an uncontested bid, so they need the votes Big Grin
Read an interview with Stephen Kenny in the IT this morning. The article said Ireland would get a third of the games and they'd all be played in the Aviva and Croke Park, but only after both had significant refurbishment. We had tickets for two games in the last Euros, but obviously Covid put paid to that, so it would be good to get to some games if we go ahead and co-host it.

I'd be surprised if we got that many with 5 nations included in the bid. They would all want some games I'm sure with England getting the lion's share (no pun intended)

I agree, a third seems high, but I can't imagine Northern Ireland getting more than one token game, and Wales just getting a handful.  But if we got a third, Scotland would probably insist on the same and they have more suitable stadiums than we do.
Oh noes, the Russians have also bid for hosting rights!

Oh, I knew it was the last two, didn't realise it was that bad 😳

Long time ago now, and hard to judge on one match, but I went to the Champions League final there in 2005 and every aspect of the organisation was an absolute shitshow.

By all accounts everything surrounding the Leeds vs Galatasaray match a few years before that was the same.  I find it very hard to believe that Turkish football has managed to sort itself out to any great extent in the intervening years.

Russia and Turkey have also declared their interest in hosting 2032, along with Italy.  Plenty of time to brush up on your Italian so.
