I'm going to try making beef wellington but I don't like mushrooms any suggestions for other fillings? I like my meat well cooked so no rare red beef for me

I don't like rare beef either so Wellington never appealed to me.

Maybe you could try green lentils if you don't like mushrooms?

You can get tinned ones rather dried if you're not used to cooking them.

(I'd add some onions & flavourings too rather than just the lentils)

Mild peppers and onions ?
You might want to cook the beef a bit before putting on the pastry, so you don't end up burning the pastry to get the beef cooked as you like

Yes I'm cooking my beef before, going with red onions mixed with red pesto for the filling

I think you are supposed to sear the meat first before wrapping it in the mushroom mix & then the pastry.

Yes, searing for sure, but starting the actual cooking of the beef before wrapping so that it'll be well done by the time the pastry is cooked. I *think* most recipes are written for medium.
Any images I've seen of it look almost raw.

I'll take my slice of Wellington fried after it's been 'cooked' & sliced @jp liz v1 😋
I always like my meat nearly cremated
I tried but it wasn't great, think my filling let it down but my beef was cooked not rare pink red
I'm not a big meat eater, so unless it's burnt to a crisp and barely identifiable as meat, then... I will happily stick with sprouts and peas. Smile

In fact, just had my dinner of peas, potato bits and pearl onions in some strange lemony, buttery, Dijon sauce. I am not fond of even a hint of horseradish, thankfully it was mild (or my tastebuds are dull now).

What do you think was the problem with filling?

Was it the flavour, or was it too moist with the peppers??

Well done for the attempt anyway 👏👏👏👩‍🍳

There is just something about Jamie Oliver that says "you can't trust his cooking."

I found him pretentious even more so the last few years

I got 2 lots from the local coffee shop - fresh berries and cream, and strawberries and mascapone.

Haven't made any yet, but do have lemons and sugar for more!
Lidl are selling insect burgers now, what are your thoughts?

Personally I'll probably grab some and try them if I see them, I'm curious. My main objection is the fact the main ingredient is water! Not generally a fan of soya either, mind

In theory I don't really see a problem with it, insects are supposedly a great source of protein it's just not in our culture to eat them

A few years back for a work charity thing people were trying insects (cooked, not alive) so I tried a few. Bit weird to begin with but grand
Only way someone is getting me to eat that is with lies... 🤢🤣
That's a bush tucker trial I'll skip
Dunnes do their own brand of Sriracha crisps. They're amazing, quite possibly my favourite crisps ever! They're in a sharer bag but it's wayyyy to easy to eat the whole bag in one go. Bit of spice on them but not too crazy

nice. congrats!
I love the mint Twirl
I decided earlier this year to cut out red meat from my diet, and I don't miss it at all, but due to this I've been getting better at trying foods I would have previously dismissed (never been particularly adventurous with food at all my entire life)...

A couple of months ago, I decided to give Mushrooms a whirl, having probably tried them once as a child and claiming they were gross, but I've now developed a bit of a grá for them...

Anyway, decided to order in Pizza tonight from Four Star which I haven't done since cutting out the red meat, and I decided on my new favourite Mushroom and its good friend Pineapple as my toppings...

Well...

Fuck Me...

Potentially the most delicious thing I've ever tasted in my 36 years... The combination of those flavours was just perfection... Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum

MUSHROOM & PINEAPPLE PIZZA FTW!!!

100%

I grew up as a veggie and this was always my go to. Now that I'm a carnivore I am partial to a bit of chicken on my pizza, but I still regularly go back to mushroom and pineapple

I pity the people who argue against pineapple on pizza. Going through life constraining themselves by arbitrary rules, scared to step out of their box and try new things

Pineapple is always amazing. Ham and Pineapple would've been one of my go to's before I cut out the red meat. Little did I know I should've been substituting in Mushroom for Ham all that time.

Chicken and Sweetcorn are also a solid Pizza combo.

Pity me so as I'm definitely in the no pineapple on pizza camp, I've tried but it's a big no for me

I'm not a massive pizza eater but aside from my new go to of BBQ Hawaiian another local takeaway does one that they call a Canadian

Chicken, Peppers, Sweetcorn on a BBQ base.

Have I mentioned I like BBQ bases on my pizzas 😁
