I got Zaytoon in Pavillions yesterday and it was devine.

It's my favourite kind of meal. Rice, small bit of meat* with loads of salads on the side with different sauces too, & bread. Yum.

(That's what I love about Indian. Loads of sides, and loads of lovely different sauces and naan bread to mop them up)

*I only like a small bit of meat but both meals were bloody HUGE.
I used to love Zaytoon!! The one in Temple Bar is where I would go pre drinks back in the before times.
Mmmmm chicken shish 🤤 Love a Zaytoon been pre pandemic since I had one... 😯

Oh I so agree @Spears, different naans and all the sauces and dips and chutneys. Yum!

Just butter  Smile  We had them on warm sourdough baguettes and I also had rashers. Neo was putting just one baguette in the oven, as if we would halve it!! Imagine. In went the other one  Big Grin

Chef brown sauce is my first choice, then American mustard, then butter. But there's no bad choices with a sausage sandwich!

Brown Sauce and Butter for me

I'd recommend Clonakilty black pudding sausages, I use them in quiche too, they are delicious, I'm not sure if sold outside Cork

Not a black pudding fan myself, it's usually tesco finest sausages for me, paprika or honey mustard or apple at the moment, used to love the garlic ones but can't seem to get them any more
I love butcher black pudding especially in potato cakes with relish

I like garlic and herb sausages too

We are banger mad  Big Grin Tongue
Red sauce for me, butter is optional! Love sausage and fried egg sandwich, egg cooked on both sides so it doesn't burst everywhere, just slightly runny yolk
I love a sausage sandwich (James Whelan's or Clonakilty please), loads of butter, and if I'm in the mood I'll have it on toast rather than plain bread. You can keep your ketchup and brown sauce though. The optional addition of a rasher or two is also very acceptable.

Lorcand, I want this recipe! Tongue
Haha here you go...
Made this tonight and it was very nice! Thanks for the recipe Smile

I'm not a measurer, so I got the proportions slightly wrong but know what to do next time!

Just keep adding cheese  Tongue

Glad you liked it! I'm sure I have a few more I can share but I'll post them as I make them so I'm not bombarding ye!

The first time I make something I usually measure everything out. After that I might add or remove bits and pieces.  As I said before I also usually end up increasing everything!
Brown sauce, red sauce, butter...

The real question is.. what kind of ketchup!?!

Chef for me. All the way.
Heinz comes second and all the other ketchups can get lost. Don't care if they're artisan or homemade or Tesco finest. Tongue

I don't like solo ketchup, but mixed with mayo nomnomnom

+1 for Chef, Heinz is ok, seems a bit more sugary or something

Ballymaloe relish is great too, even though I always seem to forget I have a jar of it in the fridge!
I like ballymaloe on certain things but Heinz on my sausage sandwich is a winner!

Heinz is made with 8g more tomatoes per hundred grams of sauce than Chef and also has 4g less of sugar/100g (23cal less/100g).

These are not the reasons I choose it... I was brought up on Heinz so it's just what I am used to 😁
Dunnes Stores have a nice range of chutneys and relishes now.
Chef ketchup is very vinegary, that's probably why it doesn't taste as sweet.

Heinze for me.

Me too. Chef is the *insert comparison with something truly dreadful* of sauces  Tongue
Heinz without the autocorrect e at the end is the best. 😄

In food and drink terms that started out promising and went dramatically downhill at the end. Hope you had fun  Smile
the bar has been lowered.......

Had garlic cheese chips, battered onion ring and battered sausage, because pub kitchen closed at 8 and we asked for the menu at 8:02. otherwise would have had a decent meal.... of goujans and chips... possibly.....
Had goujans for lunch and spicy chili for monday dinner. I have a nice tray of buns to pop in the oven presently (I started too early in the day, and they've proofed and risen too long, now they are bursting over the baking dish). Can't beat nice warm bread from the oven with a spread of butter. I may spend the wait time making something sweet for the rest of the week, since it's lookng like a busy week shaping up.
Well guys I promised you a recipe so I better deliver! I made a sweet & sour chicken last night. If you like these from a takeaway I'd recommend this as it really tastes like one & is way healthier

Coat chopped chicken fillets in 50g of instant mash powder (sounds weird but it works) & 1 tbsp of lemon pepper.. spray with oil & put on baking tray in oven for about 15-20 mins at 220 degrees

Sauce & veg
Chop 2 peppers (I use green & yellow) & fry them for a few mins & then remove & set aside
Next fry 2-3 cloves of garlic (chopped or mashed) & 1 chopped red chilli for a minute or two
Add 330 mls of orange soda (Fanta or Club). This can be full sugar or diet
Add 3 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce. 2 tbsps passatta, 4 tsps chinese spice powder, 4 tsps white rice vinegar, 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Let this boil for a few mins then reduce to simmer. If you need to thicken more, mix 1 tsp cornflower with a little water & add gradually until it thickens
When chicken is done in the oven add this into the mix for a few mins. It's ready to dish up now!
Sprinkle seasame seeds, spring onion & more chilli on top if you want

Hey presto, fake take away sweet & sour!

I used to get up to this sort of thing.
Really nothing like bread just baked out of the oven. The more I did it the more unwell ( and I mean really, really unwell in a lot of strange & not obviously connected ways ) I became.
Its one way to discover if you are a coeliac Sad

Oh no! I've no biccies in! I had a scone earlier, does that count?
I had Malai Kofta last night. I've never had it before but I'll definitely have it again. It was so good! They're sorta like dumplings made with potato and paneer and in a spicy tomato creamy curry sauce. Mmmmm

I don't actually like biscuits. I eat them to be polite or occassionally out of desperation when there's nothing else to have with tea but yeah I don't really like them and I'd never bother buying myself any.
I have discovered mint Cadbury chocolate fingers
