Rock is a very broad genre, from death metal to folk rock. Like Kol said, so long as it's not Steps or S Club. Honestly, not a single song in this tournament can be disqualified for not being rock.

Yeah, that should have been disqualified! Some of Dexys' stuff crosses into rock, but that wasn't one of them!  Smile

Another dubious one was Take My Breath Away by Berlin - where does it fit into the various sub-genres of rock?  Confused

I hope they really will be OHWs this time - not bizarre rules like if they did not have more than one Top 20 hit, or they are allowed if there are only associated with one song!  Rolleyes

For me, as regards the UK charts, a song is certainly a hit if it reaches the Top 40. Using that yardstick, Berlin were not a OHW as they had another song that got to the Top 40. As regards the US Billboards Charts, that's debatable because they sell reasonably well to even make the Hot 100, but I suppose Top 40 would make it consistent rules-wise.  Smile

I believe it was around the time of a previous OHW tournament near the end of 2019 that I discovered the Forum Games on Boards.ie. What I did not realise at the time was that nominations had been given by users for the tournament so I was a bit confused!   Confused
