thanks kol for running, waas way too fast for me to keep up, probably caz rl has taken over, but if there is a one a day tourney, i think that would be more my speed atm, but probably way too slow for your regs, so maybe something i'd have to host to foind out if its viable.

can't argues with smells like teen spirit, even if i didnt vote for it, i recognise its worth. great rock song. and deserved winner.
Cheers Kol, great work!

Should have guessed the winner in advance, can't argue with it. Biggest surprise for me was how early the Foo Fighters fell, thought they were much more popular
@Kol Very enjoyable tournament. Thanks for all the hard work.
Another great tournament Kol, thanks for running it. I thought an older, more classic rock song would win, but at the same time you can't argue with the winner.
Who voted for who.

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit 8

Zaph
Declan
Wichey

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters 4

Thanks again everyone for playing along. I think the 4 hour voting time really improved participation. If you have any points on what didn't work good, please let us know.

I have a few themes in the pipeline for running next,

Greatest One Hit Wonder (This is a re-run of the first tournament I did back in late 2019 though I have a little twist in mind also)
Most overrated movie
Greatest music video
Thanks Kol. It was an enjoyable and well-run tournament.

Based on a combination of popularity, record sales, airplay, critical acclaim and previous best ofs in rock, here are some surprising omissions (I may have missed some in the early round of course!): Freebird by Lynnyrd Skynnyrd, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynnyrd Skynnyrd, something by Coldplay, more songs by Tom Petty (with or without The Heartbreakers) - it seems my nomination of American Girl was the only one!, Radar Love by Golden Earring, something by The Smiths, more songs by The Foo Fighters, more punk and more heavy metal. Of course, 10 nominations was far from enough for me.

These were mine:
American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
The Perfect Kiss by New Order
Bad by U2
A Forest by The Cure
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
Shut Your Eyes by Snow Patrol
Do Anything You Wanna Do by Eddie and The Hot Rods
Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Put Down That Weapon by Midnight Oil
Radio Free Europe by REM
