You create a stamped picture with layered stamping.
You draw a design on lino and gouge/cut into the lino in relief to create like a stamper. You initially take away anything you want to stay white (or whatever colour your paper is), apply paint and stamp the design. Then you cut more out, apply another colour and stamp over the previous picture. Repeat for a number of colours until you have all the layers. It takes a lot of planning to ensure you cut things in the correct order/at the right time so they end up the colour you want.
We were just talking about the reduction process today, a lot of artists now cut off the different sections like a lino jigsaw, so you don't end up losing everything
