Like a lot here, I was able to rule out The Cure and Depeche Mode as I knew they had albums before 1987. It didn't really matter at that point, but I was also pretty sure that Depeche Mode did not have an album with that title. That just left two possible answers. I knew that the Saw Doctors became well-known later than 1987, but that did not rule out the possibility that they were an unknown act at that stage. However, I was pretty sure I had in fact heard the name of their first album (which I could not remember!) and it wasn't Bridge of Spies, if it was their first! Besides, that was not the kind of album title I would expect from The Saw Doctors! That just left T'Pau. They were big in 1987. In fact, they had a few hits. Heart and Soul was their first hit, but, understandably, everyone thinks of China In Our Hands, because it was a massive hit for them. I heard a few of their singles - repeats of Top of The Pops on BBC4 help to remind me in the last year or two - and I have to say that I particularly can't stand China in Our Hands! Anyway, given the tiny possibilities with The Saw Doctors, I was about 95% certain it was T'Pau, so I took a slight risk on it.
