I'm still in hand drawn/painted art mode
I can't use MS Paint with a mouse to save my life Deja has a nice free app with layering options that I want to get to grips with, as layering is brilliant for allowing adjustments, but she says it can be glitchy, I need to give that another go on the new laptop. (Was it sketch.io?)
I try to make a plan vaguely pencil sketch ideas for each of the elements so I work out fitting them all on one page before I commit. I try to include something for every 'thing' described. If the main element seems clear I will try make the pic focused on that, but otherwise it will depend on whether I have a good idea how to draw or convey a particular element how much effort it gets
I often google image search for ideas on how to paint things I can't imagine the detail for. I will eyeball images I like while trying to capture the shapes/expressions by hand.
I like when someone gives me some bit of emotive description/active verb, even though they can be harder to draw, as it helps me imagine a more integrated scenario, even if it is a crazy one
Whatever media I have handy I am happy to use. Markers are good for speed/clarity, but happy to pull out my paint brushes when I have time.
I use imgbb for hosting as it was the one suggested when I first needed to host a pic
