Definitely worth trying, Discord has the advantage of allowing more personal information to be shared because it's not open to non-members. I think both could work though.

Most chatboxs you can hide from guests anyways, there might be a discord chat mod but I'll leave it to Neo to have a look at this anyways

How about a Best "B Sides" Tournament? For the benefit of the younger folk here, I am talking about the song (or these days there might be 2!) that accompanies a single! In the old days of vinyl singles, you had the main single and on the other side the "B Side" song. Obviously, Double A Sides would not qualify.

Not new, but I intent to run a Walrus at some point. 
I have the categories ready to go (7 in total).
It will probably be later though, towards the end of the year before I get things going.
