Moderators please feel free to move this if I am in the wrong sub-forum.

I am throwing out ideas for Forum Games....if anybody else wants to join in.

Starting with some old favourites from Boards:
Elephant  - a Sheep where each answer has to start with the last letter of the previous answer. You will be penalised in some way if you get your start letter wrong. Strictly speaking, from the second answer on, if you see what I mean! This has a similar frustration to Alphabet Sheep!

Kangaroo (the last one (Doctor Who) was started on Boards but the Reveal was placed on this site) - a Sheep where you want to give the most popular incorrect answers and correct answers are penalised.

Sheep Wordplay - You are given a load of words and you have to give answers with them placed as the end of a bigger word, or as part of a phrase. Examples: Able becomes Table or Able might become Cain and Able. Another sheep variation.

Emu - a Sheep with a twist. You are trying to come up with the most popular answer in all but one question. If you sheep in all the questions, your score is reduced to zero. Evil Emu! In the one I saw on Boards, it was 4 questions, but nothing to stop us having more questions!

Ones I just made up (some of which are totally unrealistic):
Greatest Minor Hits Tournament. You nominate some songs to the tournament host that charted in the UK (Top 100/75 - that varied over the year) or in the US (Hot 100), but did not reach the Top 40.  The rules are pretty simple after that. The host holds a number of rounds and people vote on the songs in each round. Usual terms and conditions: time limits, secret PMs for final(s), etc.

EEPSH - Like Heeps, except that you are looking for the third most popular answer. You will be penalised in some way for Sheeping or Heeping! This could be a real head-wrecker!

PEEHS-1 - Like PEEHS, except that you are looking for the second least popular answer. No Googling etc., and you are penalised for getting a PEEHS as well as an incorrect answer. A particularly cruel head-wrecker!

Okay, just a bit of brain-storming. Some ideas might come out of it.
Oooh they all sound great! I'm looking forward to my course ending so I can run more games, and I do love a twist on a SHEEP

This one caught my attention, surprise surprise!

I love the idea though it might not be easy for folk to find a list of songs that fit the criteria and if you give people too much to do it become less interesting. Of course you could have the host do most of the sourcing.
I'm still considering running a best UK no.2 and best UK xmas no.1 contests.
Another suggestion - Radio Sheep!
We have had tv, music (well Peehs anyway!) and cinema. This would be a sheep all about radio: stations - pirates and licensed, personalities, programs, etc. etc
While I think of it, what about Theatre Sheep? Need I explain!

Come to think of it, I don't think we had a specific Books Sheep around these parts yet.

Tournaments-wise: Songs with the best guitar riffs, songs with the best bass lines and songs with the best drumming.
I just thought of another one! Definition Sheep / Definition Heeps: you are given a number of words and you have to PM alternative words with the same meanings ("definitions"). For example: if you were given "Error" by the host, you might PM "Mistake". For some reason, I think it would be more interesting if it was a Heeps game rather than a Sheep game!

Please feel free to come up with other suggestions - maybe mspaint, werewolf, walrus, all that stuff I know very little about!

Sheepasaurus!
Here is a rough sketch of an idea - Sheep Numbers. The host gives out a series of questions which all of numeric answers. People are trying to sheep with the most popular numeric answer. This is where it needs some fleshing out. The most popular answers, and second most popular answers, and so on, would be awarded values for each answer AND the actual value of their answer would be added on. The person with the highest total values wins.

Ok, so you'd need things like.... Number of players on a sports team - then say 10 people opt for 11 on a football team, they each get 21 points, 5 people opt for 15 players on a hurley team, they each get 20 points? I like the concept, would definitely need some fleshing out otherwise everyone would just pick the highest possible number, and it'd be a 20 way draw... Might work well with a peehs element, no googling maybe, or perhaps can't use the same number twice, or a list of numbers to slot into the questions...
Here's another one! Correct Sheep. It is a normal sheep game with one proviso - you are penalised if you give an incorrect answer or inaccurate answer! So, this would be the exception to the general rule that all answers in Sheep are allowed! Incorrect: a plain wrong answer. Inaccurate: more subtle - not strictly speaking correct answer, e.g. ask for something that happened in the past but give an answer that only applies to the present! In fact, there is nothing to stop a Correct Heeps game - same logic as Correct Sheet except you are looking for second most popular answer like any Heeps game!
I have thought of another idea for a Tournament - Best Original Versions (where the cover versions are more well-known.

What about some form of Google Feud game? It's like an internet-wide, autocomplete sheep game. I've tried to think of different ways to play or host it, but since Sheepulators aren't set up for Chromebooks, I amn't able.

I need more explanation because it sounds cool!

It's simply an autocomplete game of sheep, (which could be played straight or with differet scoring variables - I pm'ed you  a few. Here is the premise: have players complete a list of phrases, like "should I go to..." the top answers (between each other or according to google, whichever way the host decides to play it)  could be "to work" or "to school" or "to the pub" (etc)...  no googling or autocompleting allowed (and the phrases may be best  played via pm rather than listed on thread, I dunno.)

I remember there was a Sheep game on Boards.ie where the host gave "answers" and you had to come up with likely questions. That could be interesting.

Go for it. Nice idea.
We recently had a great bond song tournament, got me wondering if we've ever had one about Oscar winning songs? 🤔

If not, I might try my hand at running that - haven't decided whether it would be confined to winners or if I'd take nominations for songs that were nominated or won 😁
Another idea: Pick the Sheep. For each question, you are given a selection of answers to choose from. You are trying to pick the most popular one in each case.
EDIT: or Find the Sheep!

Only potential downside to picking would be everyone choosing first in the list.

Find the sheep could be interesting, first get regular sheep entries, compile a list of all responses and people try to find the sheep for bonus points (so it'd be 2 PMs)

I completely misread this as Oasis songs pac
(17-10-2022, 06:48 PM)Kol Wrote: [ -> ]So the idea with this was to create a series with different themes if the first turned out okay which I think it did. I think though a tweak to the scoring system might be needed. It sounded dramatic at the beginning, the posibilty of loosing multiple players though I think it dwindled interest in the game much quicker. One player per round might be enough but then you need a lot more round and thus questions.

With regards to themes, I had in mind movies, song intros, pitures, and tv show theme tunes.

This brings me to the idea of theme tunes. I would need to create audio files with multplie theme tunes, a small snippet of each, and post them somewhere. Now, my knowledge of creating audio files wouldn't be great, any ideas from those more knowledgeable in this area? Something like Audacity I guess would work?

So these are just ideas, feel free to make suggestions or indeed use the format yourself to create your own games.

(17-10-2022, 06:59 PM)nothing Wrote: [ -> ]I loved this! I did think that upping the number of questions per round might help with separating out players a bit more.

Opening lines in books would work too, maybe jokes and their comedians, stills of actors in certain roles, brand logos/tag lines, words based on its synonyms or antonyms.

When I said Find The Sheep, I was just coming out with a more catchy name for Pick the Sheep! However, your interpretation is interesting - this is how ideas develop!

Would that kinda be something along the lines of 'find my sheep'

Host has list of questions & has picked their sheep answers already.. Entrants have to try guess what the hosts sheep answer is.. Could incorporate some sort of wider scoring system to it?

If so, I like that idea for a game!

I hadn't thought of that angle, i.e. that the host has an answer in mind. Plenty of possibilities now.

Haha, I should probably try run with some version of this suggestion given my avatar 😂 I agree with nothing re lists/choices for sheep, if in doubt pick the first item. Picking from lists works better for PEEHS 😁😒
My chromebook is not sheepulator compatible and I can't figure out any game specifics, but (if we haven't done this aready), might be fun to see what our FoG cast of characters would look like as a TV show. What mix of TV characters do we have in our FoG "Friends" show (and which Foggie would they be)?  Would Mam be Penny from Big Bang? Smile  It's proven that BB may literally by Kody from Sisters Wives, so pac ... what a varied cast we would have here Big Grin

That's a brilliant idea, Deja!

What a dysfunctional show that would be. Big Grin
Inspired by the recent FoGs Greatest UK Xmas No. 1 Tournament: FoGs Greatest UK Xmas No. 2, i.e. songs that were at Number 2 in the UK Charts on Christmas Day. That includes songs that were at Number 1 before or after.

Edit: I just realised that Number 2s (but not specifically Christmas) have been suggested before by @Kol - I knew it sounded vaguely familiar!  Blush

I think I had planned on doing a no.2 tournament and I might even have a song list somewhere on my Google drive. Xmas no.2 is a great idea, a smaller pool of songs so more manageable. Could be some better songs on it than the no.1s, might Google it later out of curiosity
Who is in your Musical alphabet? ABC's of best artists? or a Sheep/Heep/Peehs of them?
Idk, but I kinda miss those abc games, they were challenging but fun.
