My methods (if you know some or all of this already no offence intended ):

You need the link with .gif or .jpg (etc) near the end.

On desktop I find easiest to get this by right clicking on the image/gif and selecting Copy Image Address.

If using a Google search you need to click to get closer to the source of the image, not copy from the main search results.

On mobile I sometime click on the image, and then click on View File and then copy the address from the URL bar at the top.

Then you just need to paste that link between img tags... [ img ]insert link here[ /img ] (remove the spaces inside the square brackets when you want to do it for real!). There is a click and paste input box in the New Reply window for adding pictures if you don't want to have to type the img tags.

See attached screenshot showing the box you need to click on, here you can type or paste the already copied URL/Image Address into the URL box. I don't use the width and height boxes

Thank you for asking about  this, sometimes I feel like the only one who doesn't know stuff.

On my phone I open tenor.com and find the gif I want and open it. Then I press on it and I get an option to 'open in new tab' which I select. Then when it opens in the new tab I copy the address bar and then using the icon Ari shared the screenshot of above I paste it in and wallah the gif shows up.
