Any game I've played/ran, the PMs are copy/paste across everyone, with a few extra lines for RV and wolves, so not sure that secret communication would work unfortunately. It's an interesting idea, all the same.

Definitely don't think RVs should be coming out unless they're in trouble or have useful information. Not worth losing them too quickly.

And they must not fake their results, without having a very good reason, please!

There was an incident in a previous game where the seer made some claims that weren't true, and when it came out, they doubled down. It made it more difficult for the village.

We had a game broken before using that NRV PM thing. I wouldn't be in favour of trying to use meta stuff like PMs to win the game. It is game breakey and not in the spirit of the game.

We are supposed to use our investigative skills and thr powers given to the RVs to win, so I think that's what we should do.

It's awful for the player involved a x the village, but plays into the wolves hands too as it gives them a wagon for a lynch and the lynch votes can't be analysed.

I can understand a ploy, it’s risky, but the player needs to come clean when it backfires. In general village should never lie, it’s rough enough with the wolves doing it.

Mass reveal is just against the spirit of the game tbh. I know it happens and can be useful but even given the numbers, the mass reveal is probably still a little useless if the normal stipulations re BG and the likes apply

Spreadsheets and good old fashioned sleuthing should be order of the day

So I've never watched the office. If you were recommending it to me, how would you sell it? What episode(s) are good tasters?

The first episode is really good so I'd start there! Also helps to go from the beginning to get all the storylines.. even though he's a wolf in this game Dwight is a brilliant character.  It's probably not for everyone as its a very awkward humour sometimes but Steve Carell is one of my favourite comedy actors

Aside from that the episode with the fire, the basketball game and the Dundee awards are some my favourites, I've only watched the series once though

I think I've avoided it as I'm not a Ricky Gervais fan, and not mad about US remakes of UK shows as they can be... Awful.

I love some of the later episodes.... Especially the last few... But I agree I think watching the full thing makes sense and is well worth it!

It's nothing like the UK version and is probably the best example of a US remake ever. So if any show is gonna do it for you nothing....

It’s a pretty amazing show. It’s a cringe comedy set in a documentary format that revolves around the dysfunctional boss and employees of a paper company. Many of the actors directed or even wrote some of the episodes. It’s sad, funny, dark, optimistic, soppy and weird. The characters develop as the show progresses with the lead becoming somewhat more lovable from the second season onwards. Watch the pilot, and you’ll be hooked.

I think there might be something like that on boards but I’m not 100%.

I played for a number of years with the same group of players across two boards - straightdope & giraffeboards, and various off-boards. Some of the players also play on mafiauniverse and totalwar. I stopped around 5 years ago as I had little time and just started again recently.

I wouldn’t say my play is that different, I poke and prod, I like doing ISOs, finding inconsistencies, pairs and non-pairs, but I try use all the tools available to us, village is the uninformed minority and any info we can gain is worth the effort.

The ones I used to play on are mainly American, so when I’m free to chat everyone’s either at work or asleep, so I find myself coming in at the end of a discussion. I’m Irish but based in Spain, so that’s why boards, and now this site appealed to me.

Just on the question of village/wolf wins, very much in recent times its been village heavy IIRC. The spreadsheet on boards is great and is fairly up to date last time I checked.

I don’t agree with the nrv handshake strategy. If it’s very much the reason and the idea behind rule 4. Rule 4 is difficult to word, where you want to slow folks to claim there rules but you don’t want people catching people out because of the wording of the rule PM.

It’s the reasons why sometimes the moods post the nrv pm, so it cannot happen.

I have no issue with the vigilante coming out, but believe the seer and the bg should stay hidden for as long as possible.
