It doesn't say that the serial killer kills at the same time as the wolves specifically in the OP. Maybe they get their kill randomly? But why would it have not worked?

If that's the case the sk kidnaps the person during the day and tortures at night but it failed today?

Only other thing I can think of is this is the criminals trying to kidnap the traitor but I dunno if that makes sense from the flavour

Oh, possibly the wolves and it fails if the target isn't the traitor? If that's the case we're wasting our time looking for signals.

We'll know if a SK kill is announced tomorrow anyway, unless we yeet them.

It was an opening post on a sunny day, I don't get what you mean by a strong lean in.

Yep, Moe's theory of the wolves kidnapping makes more sense, it fails if the player they try to kidnap isn't the traitor.

The mention of being tortured overnight in the bunker made me think it was the SK.

What if the player who was targeted had already cast their lynch vote. Surely it would have to count. I don’t think it’s the SK tbh as the OP clearly mentions night.

If they weren't blocked the player would now be kidnapped though and as Countess said they wouldn't be able to vote.

With that being pointed out it looks less likely.

A kidnapping would suggest that player cant vote or post but hopefully they will be returned to the game, maybe tomorrow and can tell us what happened. I dont think it is the sk, what would happen if they were lynched tonight or the kidnapped person.

The only suspicion I have so far is Jacob and his post about the traitor. It seemed very informed so was he signalling to the wolves?

Is it possible there is some other mechanism in the game that wasn't in the OP? Does that happen on these games? I'm thinking along the lines of a villager being coerced into a kidnapping for the sk or wolves through some posting pattern and in this case they failed? Or maybe it was the wolves or sk themselves who were given a task and failed?

The most obvious reason is that it was a failed recruitment as suggested by many, but I don't want us to get too rabbit holed by the obvious.

The kidnapping failed, no one has left the game. The post said the victim is fine and I doubt they were informed as that would prove they're not a wolf.(if the wolf theory is correct)

What I mean is was the failed kidnapping as a result of the bodyguard blocking or them picking somebody they can't viably pick or the traders saying no or something else in the game mechanism

I've not seen The Rookie so I don't know if it has a specific resonance in that show but as a general police procedural watcher - show responding would be something dispatch would request when they've sent a call to a specific team to acknowledge that they were responding to it. Whereas the second call went to all units so they wouldn't ask for it and it would be for whoever got their first to radio in.

I don't think it's just flavour. The first one reads like someone attempted an action in the game but it failed. I'm inclined to agree with the theory that it's the criminals trying to identify the traitor and that if the person they've selected isn't the traitor that the kidnap attempt fails. I think we're not getting the victim's name because then it'd be a confirmed villager and the wolves already know the alignment of that person because it's not one of them.

The second one is a failed shot fired in the station area. Lopez has a long gun and can only fire during the day so maybe it's her? If so then it could be Elijah's power who affected it?

But to be fair it does sound like it's action/role related. Whether someone saved a villagers ass is unclear though. But certainly seems there's opportunities for powers for murder outside of munching hours

I think if not flavour then two possibilities of kidnapping is either failed search for the traitor or someone has a role that is a 50/50 success rate? Sometimes they hit sometimes they don't.
