I Read it as being told if two players had the same alignment, rather than their actual alignment.

if somebody is faithful aligned, they are faithful.

if somebody is aligned with somebody else, then they share the same alignment (either both faithful, or both traitors)

your alignment is which side you are on.

Betty wasn't given that info, just that Benjamin and Vincent have the same alignment.

The Traitors are probably less likely to murder Vincent now as his reveal will either clear or implicated Benji. So, "Pat the Baker", it's between you and I for murder.
