I was reading a story the other week that Alan Rickman was infuriated by Rowan Atkinson when they were filming the shopping scene... Rowan kept asking to restart the take and do it over and Alan got infuriated... I was wondering if Rowan was trying to piss him off in real life for the authenticity of the reaction in the film 😁😁😁

Rowan Atkinson apparently is a real perfectionist, so I can well believe that he wanted to do lots of takes. I remember Danny Boyle in an interview on the Graham Norton show saying he had to tell him that the piece he was doing live 😁 for the opening ceremony of the Olympics in the U.K. could not be restarted/ retaken. 😁

Agree, never liked that film at all. The constant referring to Martine McCutcheon's character as fat also really grates on me, especially as she's just a perfectly normal weight! Also yer man at the doorstep with the cards? Bleeeeurgh!

All movies have less than ideal scenes, I agree with you about the  fat references, totally uncalled for.  I was turned off by the ludicrous Wisconsin scene, beyond anything even remotely believable - adolescent fantasy at it's worst.

But there was some good acting in between the minimally bad, Rowan was a brilliant angel! And the storylines of Liam Neeson dealing with his grief by learning to relate (so well) with his stepson, and the way Emma Thompson depicted such vulnerable strength   - pure brilliance.

And it gave the world a Christmas Lobster! Big Grin
