Dolly Parton - Jolene

Have always had a huge grá for this song for some reason. It’s a very simple track but I could listen to it for hours on loop. Very good choice.
Oh no, wtf did I enter  Big Grin

Carole King - It's Too Late

Again, I think it’s the pacing of the song. I just wasn’t liking it on relistens ahead of some of the other entries.

great song choice.

I don't know many Dolly songs but that song is heartbreaking and yet beautiful  Heart
Ah, I like this Carole King.
It was sampled in the theme of one of the most successful Greek TV series

Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run

There aren’t many songs in Bruce’s locker that are much better than this one tbf. I have a personal love for ‘Working on the Highway’ just for it’s pure quirkiness but this is top 5 easily (also Working on the Highway wasn’t released till 1984 so isn’t eligible lol). Anywho… it’s an easy win here for the Boss, great song, great choice – max points!
Whoo-hoo!

I feel a bit bad entering something so obvious but I don't know much obscure from before I was born, so I just went big! Probably, maybe, my favourite Bruce song, I thought you'd like it too Big Grin
Hard luck @ShaneU you were robbed

WELL DONE @E.N. !!!

nice to see sexy Bruce making an appearance tonight  Heart

So our first round is in the bag.

I got distracted looking at those arms!
Something New

A song released in 2020 or 2021… I wasn’t expecting much this round, new music is mostly like painting the exterior of a house these days... boring, monotonous, all the same...

but here’s a few I might have picked.

Same story here, saving top and bottom 2 for last, right up the table otherwise. No dupes this round woot!! And I was very pleasantly surprised, despite my opening comment I have to say….

The Brave Mermaids - Mermaids Club

This wasn’t bad, it was kinda funky. I didn’t even mind the foreign language entry… the round ended up being very strong though which I didn’t expect and this ended up here as a result.

The slow songs haven't done too well so far either  Confused

Absolutely grand, I didn't even listen to the full song myself, I'm a bit stuck in the past with most music!

Public Service Broadcasting - Blue Heaven

This actually began life at the very bottom of the pile. I didn’t like the slow start to the track much at all… it’s worth a couple of relistens though, and really picks up from about 1.50 onwards. Good entry.
I fear for my entry this round. I mean its a great song but I dont think our host will fancy it.
Glad you liked it. I had all but chosen when I got an email saying that had just been released. I liked my first listen so I'm out went, fresh from the oven!

This probably scores higher without Ariana Grande tbh. Not gone on her at all. Still, it’s a very good track in spite of her presence.
Love Miley Cyrus. Great song Diamond Smile

Dua Lipa - Physical

The only track I knew from this artist before was the sweary for the sake of it – Boy, I don’t give a Fuck. That got annoying pretty fast. So I wasn’t expecting much here – but this was class. Really jammed with this, the chorus in particular.

Love this song and thought of entering it but I used it in a weekly walrus already.

Honestly, the top 4 in this round are all so close I’d probably swap them around based on my mood when listening to them. Loved this track and was really surprised there’s been more than 2 decent songs in the past 2 years pac

Can someone tell me what show this was in recently? It’s doing my absolute head in. The chorus is just brilliant and I really enjoyed it more and more on relistens.

Did Paloma Faith cover in an ad?
