Thanks, went ok I think. Got an email at 1pm asking me if 4pm or Monday 9am suited, so I didn't have much time to overthink it!

Your interview sounds fun 😬
Still, nice to be on the position of not needing/wanting it. I remember when I used to worry so much about interviews, now I'm much more blasé. Might explain why I haven't found a job yet 🤣

The people interviewing me were perfectly nice, it just became apparent that there were very much "work comes first and if the higher ups say jump you say how high without question" structural issues, that I'm just not willing to subject myself to anymore.

I've done jobs like that in the past, and its not worth it - I value my time and mental health more, so if somewhere doesn't offer a good work/life balance or is seemingly run by tyrants, then no thanks.

I don't stress about interviews at all anymore - if any interview panel can't handle me as I am, then I probably won't want to work for them anyway. Best jobs I ever had all came from informal interviews or just chatting to someone and them hiring me without even seeing a CV, and I figure I'll stumble into the right thing eventually or else I'll just die one day, in which case, problem solved...  Tongue
Good attitude @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick Smile

And yeah, that job sounds like hell. I've had my fair share of them too, and it's too much

There were quite a few red flags that cropped up for me in the interview though, so won't be accepting any job from them even if they do offer, which they probably won't because I think I made it fairly obvious I wasn't interested by the end.

Well, they didn't quite take the hint apparently, because I've been informed I was successful at interview stage and have been given a position on the panel...

Maybe I'll be really low down on that panel and no actual job offer will ever come, but I still find it funny that I was "successful at interview stage", because I definitely made this face at one point in response to their bullshit...

Part of me thinks I should just let them know right now that I'm definitely not interested, but another part of me wants to see how it plays out, and if an actual job offer actually appears, I'll just send them this gif...

Ha ha, you're obviously too good Soapy, they're desperate to just be given the chance to convince you!

I got told I'm one of two being considered for my role. Obviously better than them not liking me, but if I don't get it I'll have to hunt down the other candidate

I mean, I am pretty amazing, so I understand why they'd want me despite my clear lack of interest in the interview... Maybe it will never end and this will just go on forever now...

Can you imagine if we had been interviewing for the same position all along though and I was the other candidate...

I don't want to sound like a grumpy old "it was better in my day" man, and I'm not going anyway, but that's a terrible lineup by Glastonbury standards

Obviously there's about a million acts still to be announced, but there's very few names on that list that haven't played it before, very little "unique"

Fair play, Elton John is a big one, but otherwise... meh

That said, I still wish I was going Tongue

I am a grumpy old man and festivals are a pile of shite anyways. Three days or more rolling around in the mud with barely any proper facilities that haven't been wrecked by drugged up lunatics, no thanks!

Didn't really like them when I was younger and have nightmares about them now!

Ha ha, fair enough. I haven't been since pre-covid and really miss festivals. Few days outside in the fresh air with no cares, listening to music with like minded people, bit of alcohol and lots of fun.

Itching to get back to Glastonbury, but that'll be a few years yet as all the people I go with are having kids Tongue

Half looking at Kaleidoscope this year with the munchkins, but I think they're a little too young yet
How long has Elton John's farewell tour been going on for now  Big Grin

Festivals wouldn't be for me either as I think too old now, I do watch BBC highlights of Glastonbury
Well as one of the young folk (comparitively speaking) around these here parts, I ain't no fan of outdoor festivals either - usually full of wankers who aren't there for the music, as Necro so rightly put it, its just a bunch of drugged up lunatics rolling around in the piss soaked (because of the lack of facilities) mud...

No thanks, not for me
You guys have been to the wrong festivals!
Everyone should check this out, but I know you're interested @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick

Of course, it's the Saturday after my daughter's birthday, so we're probably having a family party 🙈
Have to see if can make both work...
Damn, same night as Anna B Savage (ironically down in the Whelans Main Room) which I'm really looking forward to, so will have to wait and catch Paddy Dennehy next time he's gigging after this current set of gigs

15 years since their debut

Olympia gig for next March, that's going to be a long wait

After all that wait, I had to miss out due to having a fecking hernia Sad
Looks like it was a belter from what I've seen online

Missed the Ireland Latvia game too, not such a big deal but I don't know yet if I'll be able for the France game on Monday, getting so pissed off with this

Got tickets for Hozier in the academy too, but that's 5 days after I'm having the operation to repair this, suspect that'll be too soon for me Sad

Anyway, grumble over, at least I'll be sorted fairly soon
Tickets went on sale today for Wheatus in Whelans this October, and it's by far the easiest 25 quid I ever spent... Absolute bargain price for such an iconic (yet criminally underrated) band... Can't Wait!

I'm not much of a fan myself, but I was amazed when I saw they were playing Whelan's. Seems insanely small for them. I would have assumed they were still Olympia size, but easily Academy

As predicted, had to give up the tickets for Hozier tomorrow. Op went well, but still recovering so not able for much. Means Just Mustard is my next gig, glad to have something on the horizon to look forward to. Will probably head to Melts in a few weeks too, not being able to go out recently had given me a renewed zest for getting out once I can Smile

Last time they were in Ireland, I'm pretty sure they were in The Grand Social, and before that it was Whelan's again, but I think I read somewhere or heard in an interview that they prefer the more intimate venues, so it could be a preference, because I reckon they would easily sell out The Academy or Olympia and wouldn't have a problem getting booked for either if they wanted to go bigger. I'm not complaining though, because I prefer the more intimate venues too.  Big Grin

Sorry to hear you've had to miss a few gigs, but glad to hear of your new zest for going out once you can again.
That is a great price for Wheatus enjoy @Rachel Stevens on a Pogo Stick

So sad to hear this. Met him once (along with Bradley and Jo) after a gig they played in UCD and he seemed like such a genuinely nice guy ; we all bonded over a sharing bag of Cheese & Onion Hunky Dory's while they waited for their transport to come pick them up.

RIP
I was an S Club 7 fan both music and the TV show, pure pop trashy fun

I see girlfriend. have been added as support for Just Mustard @E.N.. They're great, went to their last headline gig, worth heading in early for, assuming you're well enough to head into gigs again by then.

Nice one, cheers, I'll give them a listen.
As I'd imagine you'd guess, I always make sure I catch support acts anyway 😋

Think I'll be fine for next Friday, well on the way to being fixed now 🤞

ETA: they're not very prolific, are they?! 4 songs in 5 years 🤣

Quality not quantity... Tongue

They've only just got back to gigging after a lengthy hiatus as far as I remember (could be confusing their hiatus story with another act, but I don't believe I am), think they took a break back in late 2018 to focus on final year of college/travel etc. and then due to Covid things got put on the long finger, but I know they're planning to release new stuff this year.

Quite a few of the best acts I've seen recently haven't released anything yet, and more than a few others only have 1 or 2 songs out, so 4 songs sounds like loads to me these days...  Big Grin

I did figure you'd be like me and not miss the support acts - I discover all the best artists that way (actually I Dreamed I Dream who supported girlfriend. at their aforementioned headline gig, are one of those acts that I thought were phenomenally good and they have nothing released at all yet)

Ah, there going to be one of those acts that make me feel like an old man 🤣

In my head I always imagined myself to grow up like John Peel, and be at the back of these thoughts with people thinking it's cool the old guy came along. Hopefully that's the case and I don't just look creepy! 🙈
This is decades away though, still a sprightly mid-forties now!

Definitely. I once had a run of three gigs following back support acts. I went to see someone and The Kissaway Trail were supporting them, loved them. Next time they came round I saw them and Jacob Golden was supporting who was excellent. Then saw him headline somewhere and broke the chain, can't remember who supported him. It was a fun run though

Had to bail on Just Mustard, my wife was sick. Three gigs in a row I've had to cancel, I don't think fate wants me to see live music again 😕
Sorry to hear that @E.N.
Thought about you when I saw the announcement for Explosions In The Sky.
Considering a ticket myself, though I think I have 2 more events that week 🙂

I am very tempted by Explosions too!
Holding off for now as I hate Monday gigs now that I'm not in Dublin, I'll see nearer the time what things are like workwise etc, see how easy it would be. I've seen them a few times, they are very good

I saw in the other place you're going to Duran Duran and they switched standing tickets to seating on you, that's such a shitty thing to do. Gig goers, particularly at the big venues, are treated like dirt these days, it's so annoying

Yeah, I think it has sold quite poorly - big ask to sell out The Point after they have played here last year + I believe Bruce Springsteen plays RDS on the same night and they may be pulling on the same crowd.
The annoying thing is that although I bought the ticket in the 3 presale straight away I didn't get a seat on the ground floor, close to the stage. Instead I got block C - a good seat on the front of the block, still though makes standing a bit more difficult.  Hoping there will be lots of fans like me that will not entertain sitting down 🙂
