I'm one of the awful people who say this... Although it's only because I know quite a few non Catholics who don't celebrate Christmas but enjoy the holiday time ☺
It is funny that they came up with the saying 'happy holidays' in America, but most people there don't get any holidays for Christmas: just Christmas day and that's it. If you want more time off it will be unpaid leave for the majority.
