Just got my Spotify Wrapped stats, and seemingly I listened to 100,539 minutes of Spotify this year (I thought it might be more, but I do also listen to music elsewhere, so almost 70 full days of Spotify ain't half bad), and one song in particular was crowned my Most Played Song of 2022

Thought it might be a fun little lighthearted game to see if any of you can guess what that song is, and a nice change from the games I usually host that always required a lot of work for me

You can guess your answers in thread - one guess per person at a time until I've replied saying if you're correct or not, possibly with additional hints thrown in along the way

And I'm not a monster, I'll set you off in the right direction, here are some hints...

"I'm a song that was realeased as a single in 2021 from an album that was released in 2020. I'm a song from a British artist/band, and I'd probably be best described as an Indie Pop or Indie Rock track. So, get your guessing hats on, who am I?"

I don't think I'm right but I'll try:
Heatwaves by Glass Animals

I think they are British
I'd consider them a little more indie than mainstream pop
The album was 2020, but I'm worried the single was also 2020 although it came to popularity and charted better in 2021...
Was it really over two years...   Whoops sorry... Life just got in the way 🙈😅

No it's not Heatwaves, been awhile since I heard that song, but I remember liking it

Try Again

I'll give another clue though. The artist or band did play a gig in Dublin this year.

It is a possibility. I have featured the artist and song somewhere on a FoG thread this year, and at least one of their other songs has appeared in a tournament at some point (possibly back on boards)

Based on the gig clue I was thinking either Wolf Alice or Declan McKenna but the album/single dates don't align.

Guessing game aside, this is an impressive amount of Spotify listening. Mine is just over 20000 minutes, which I think is still decent. 🙂

Actually a big hint here for everyone, because I have to correct myself, I featured it in a thread here on FoG towards the end of last year, not this year

Another hint for the craic, I've already sneakily and masterfully included the song name and the name of the album it comes from somewhere in this thread

Whether ye know the song or not, a good detective could crack this one  Wink

Wet Leg was my first guess, but the dates didn't line up

I've had a few guesses, but none line up. Even a couple where I found out I don't know artists nationalities!

HERE'S MORE HINTS (because this is a tough one):

Wet Leg is a good guess as the artist you're looking for is a band and has a similar name structure, in that its a two word band name that is an adjective + noun

The bands drummer's first name is Ciara

The song currently has 1.1 million views on YouTube (quite a few of those views were me)

Ah for feck sake, google went and did me dirty yesterday, turns out the single was also realeased in 2020 according to Wikipedia (which I should have checked to begin with - my bad, as if it wasn't a hard enough song to guess to begin with, apologies)

EDIT:
Or alternatively, I just mixed up the album and single releasr dates when typing this up  Blush

Congrats @E.N., despite me royally fucking up from the very first post, you have managed to guess the correct song, it is indeed, from the album "Who Am I?"

Pale Waves - Change

Out of curiousity who heard the song (or even heard of the band) before?

I tend to listen to it on repeat when I'm particularly anxious or stressed out, hence it being my most played song

I'll be listening to it a lot for the next half hour or so, to help ease my anxiety about having messed up those release dates from the word go - proof that I'm not ready to return to hosting more complex and time consuming games anyway

If anyone else wants to take over the thread and have us guess their own Spotify Wrapped Top Tune, feel free to jump in and get started - my only word of advice would be to triple check any dates you're submitting

Never heard of them.

My Top song was released in 1966 by an American solo artist. This would be the most popular version of the song. The song was originally released in Germany in 1965 and first released in English by Wayne Newton. It has something weather related in the title

Definitely knew the album, listened to it a few times times when it came out but haven't for ages. Must have read an interview with them though, the Ciara clue was what triggered my memory. In the real world I'm a Ciarán, so I'd say it lodged in my brain because of that

Do Ya Wanna Taste It - Wig Wam
The Next Big Thing (Brock Lesnar Theme) - Jim Johnston & WWE
Head of The Table (Roman Reigns Theme) - WWE

Sad my Spotify is set to our Google nests so the kids have been having a field day!
