I've set up an FPL league for FOGgies to join, we can use this as a discussion thread too...

Yeah you get a set budget and pick a squad. Think its limited to max 3 players from 1 team. then each week you can make one or two free transfers etc

Yeah you get 100 million to build your own team
Points then get allocated each game week based on appearances, goals, assists and clean sheets (for defenders and keeper). 

You can make one free transfer each week but any more than that costs you 4 points off your gameweek total. 

Then there's the wildcard which you get two of ( one in the first half of the season and the second after Christmas roughly) where you can make unlimited transfers for that week only.
Theres a few other little boosts you can use then like triple captain ( your captain normally gets double points but if you use this it trebles your points for the week), bench boost (all the subs count for points for that gameweek too). There was also a Free Hit which means you can make as many transfers as you want but your team goes back to the previous way it was after that week.
You can also get bonus points if you have a player or two in the team of the week.

I also think it takes any pressure off my team to succeed

Good week for myself scoring 83 points meaning I'm top of the league after one week.

@Baggly, @lorcand1990 and @ShaneU round out the champions league positions with 77, 76 and 71 points respectively.

Down in the relegation zone it's not a great start for @fixxxer, @Wichita Lineman and @nothing but it's a long way to go yet....

That free transfer feels like making a late change to a sheep answer.. I made a change & guarantee the player I took out will outscore who I put in!

There's 2 ways of doing this, a Wildcard or Free Hit. I'll try explain them separately,  probably easier!

Wildcard 
You get 2 of these per season, one in first part and one in second part of season. You can make unlimited transfers, provided you stay within the usual budget restraints. These changes you make will be permanent.  Can be handy is you have a few injuries or want to offload lots of players at one time! They don't roll over so if you don't use the one in the first part, you lose it. If you go to make lots of subs in a week, you should get an option pop up to use the wildcard

Free Hit
You can only use this once in the entire season, like Bench Boost or Triple Captain. The difference between this and wildcard is that the changes you make are only for one game week, after that it reverts back to your team the way it was the week before. Screenshot below of where you'll see this, at the bottom right
