MOD NOTE

Humble apologies, it appears one of the victims of this morning's massacre was, in fact, alive! In my defence, they looked dead, but then they started screaming "tis just a flesh wound" which I initially ignored as that's a different film. But they insisted they want to continue fighting, so please shortly welcome Vincent the Artist to proceedings...!

(Please note this was just a straight mess-up on my part as I missed someone who hadn't arrived yet, don't read anything into their arrival method)

In truth, none of us are perfect. I, too, have wrestled with self doubt. But Pat… I do wonder about you. You came into this company with words of wolves and how few there might be. I cannot help but question whether you already knew their number, and sought to appear as one unknowing.

What I think happened here is William saw Vernon say they have self doubt, and thought it was an unusual thing for Vernon to say. I'm only answering because it kinda relates to me, before anyone starts!

Easiest way to clear this up is to yeet William to prove we are not linked!  Tongue

@William the Grave Robber answering a question meant for @Pat the Baker just niggled at me that there could be dual identities floating about but I think the amount of accounts eliminated probably rules it out so I've parked it. I think.

you best explain how i answered a question meant for pat.

i picked the following out of vernon's post and replied as follows:

vernon: In truth, none of us are perfect. I, too, have wrestled with self doubt.

me: wha? im good so have not wrestled with self doubt. odd post.

The part after that was aimed at Pat, it just looked a bit odd to me. I see your reasoning and it makes sense but at the time to me it looked like you were answering for him for some reason.

So 16 left, not 15.

Also happy resurrection day @Vincent the Artist

Does that change our calculations?

11 v 4 v 1 seems more plausible tbh

I'm stuck on the recruitment idea so I think 11 v 3 v 1 with one recruitment later in the game to keep wolf numbers up.

Depends on balance & specific powers from those numbers

12 v 3 v 1 makes more sense to me, but if wolves have few powers & village have more, could be 11 v 4 v 1

To be honest your reply read as if you thought that post was aimed at you and you were responding to it, it in no ways reads like you describe above so I don't blame Ina for picking it up the she did as I picked it up the exact same way.

I think 12 v 3 V 1 makes more sense personally

4:1 plus SK

5 kills for a village win from 11 players seems just a little bit too much for me.

That would be just my opinion though and I would be working on that assumption, but I'm not going to discount the possibility that there is 4

Gonna note this post as a villagery post here, I don't think a wolf would be so quick to state that their opinion is that there would be an extra wolf with the adjusted numbers.

if there is a mechanic like that, i think it will be more a turn rather than being recruited.

someone mentioned it above, and i like it: use the power of the ring too much and you become a wraith.

i wouldnt get bogged down on this right now though, cos i'm assuming if its in the game it'll be announced if a conversion takes place.

It's usually something that gets announced on thread anyway. But this game you wouldn't be sure cause we've very little to go on so far

No. The ring itself is a force for evil though and everyone who carries it is affected by that.

Isildur didn't cast the ring into Mount Doom because he was corrupted by its power.
The ring then betrayed Isildur and eventually fell to Smeagol/Gollum who became corrupted by its power.
Bilbo Baggins then stole the ring from Gollum and also became affected (though to a lesser extent) by the ring.
Then it passed to Frodo who also demonstrated at times that he was affected by it.

Not all characters were affected by the ring though. Some could resist it's power. Cate Blanchett turned it down when offered it by Frodo didn't she?

Interesting. How few wolves did I say there would be?

But yes, I did start the game by talking about wolves. That's the point of the game

Galadriel foreshadowed that she would be corrupted if she took the ring correct. But ultimately refused it.

Gandalf also turned it down, knowing that if he tried to use it for good it would corrupt even him.

A Hobbit would be a character no? I wonder if this was a way to get around this rule:

Allow yourself to fully adopt your character persona and do your utmost to conceal your RL identity. I don't know. You spoke swiftly of One Wolf. It struck me as strange, as though you were feigning ignorance of how many truly roam these lands. Not the simple pondering of one who weighs the numbers of players and the balance then of wolves. But rather the tone of one eager to seem unknowing, as if to say, “Surely I am no wolf.”

My understanding is we're not permitted to reveal ourseleves as hobbits, elves, men or any other character type. I used Jabroni as I saw it used on reading a previous werewolf. I realise now it was poorly chosen. I'll just use NRVs in future.

You said
"Just the one wolf and a serial killer mentioned in the first post? Guessing there are more wolves".
This was simply untrue. They spoke of “wolves” in the plural, more than once. And to say one is merely guessing there are more wolves feels hollow. Guessing? Of course there are more. There was never going to be a lone wolf, such a thing would not make sense.
It reads as though you strain to seem blind to the truth of their number — yet I suspect you knew full well how many there are.

How does 'that looks to be the case' equal 'completely discounted'?

I think 4 wolves is the worst case for us, better to work from that than think there are 3 and be surprised there is another

I read the following in the OP:
Quote:The Fellowship wins by eliminating all the Wolves and successfully chaperoning the One Ring to the fires of Mount Doom, cleansing Middle-earth of its greatest evil.
This sacred duty falls uniquely to the Hobbits among you, a burden few can comprehend.
Should the line of Ring-bearers be extinguished, the quest to destroy the One Ring fails, and with it, all hope for Middle-earth.
Yet, the Ring itself is a persistent and powerful force; even if its current bearer falls, its fate may not be sealed, and its dark influence may still be resisted.

And took it to be hobbits. But on 2nd read, the fellowship is probably more accurate.

I'm not following.
ina has posted something that you think comes from a village mindset, so the post is villagery,
but its not impossible for ina to be a village.

Is that what you meant to say, or was their a typo somewhere?
Would ina be you top villager?

I've explained this many times now and it's really strange how it keeps getting brought up to shade me. Do I need to explain again what I was saying in my first post?

You said
"Just the one wolf and a serial killer mentioned in the first post? Guessing there are more wolves".
This was simply untrue. They spoke of “wolves” in the plural, more than once. And to say one is merely guessing there are more wolves feels hollow. Guessing? Of course there are more. There was never going to be a lone wolf, such a thing would not make sense.
It reads as though you strain to seem blind to the truth of their number — yet I suspect you knew full well how many there are.
Christ on a bike I really do have to explain this again

I was saying there was 1 wolf name mentioned in the OP- Sauron.. Although from what others have said etc Sauron may not even be a wolf.. That is literally all I was saying, and that my guess is there are more than 1 wolf but we don't know cause it's not mentioned. I have no idea about Lord of the Rings so I was working from the original post & what was mentioned

I never never ever mentioned a lone wolf, or that there is just 1 wolf in this game. And you're only talking about this this wolves plural stuff from the OP now, after others have mentioned it probably over 24 hours ago

I'm not explaining this to anyone again, it's ridiculous

Have you looked at anyone else? Any others coming onto your radar? Or are you just focused on Betty?

Nah I mentioned Rhoda earlier as well but they did clarify they were referring to you and Betty, quote below

I have a niggle about Betty too I think the character spiel is a mask to avoid proper game discussion

That's where I'm at right now, anywho

Vernon is raising a few red flags at the moment as well but I'm conscious they could be a new player just trying to get to grips with the lingo so not going there today.

It's only a placeholder at the moment for Betty anyways, they said they would be back to post later so I'm not locked in or anything. Just how I roll I always have a placeholder in case something happens and I'm away later. Force of habit more than anything

Not with this particular group. But I'm familiar with it from elsewhere.

Ok thanks coz your posts were confusing as some read like a newbie around vocab and others read like you know the game
