This is my question. If there was an alignment check, what would the alignment come back as for Gollum. 
They aren't aligned to anyone or any group. They are solo. They aren't aligned to the fellowship. They aren't aligned to Sauron. So what would the answer be?

Alignment check is usually either Good or Bad. Serial killer = Bad alignment
