Can anyone explain exactly how to work the free unlimited tranfers for one week? Tried to figure it out myself last week, but I'm a moron. Eli5?

There's 2 ways of doing this, a Wildcard or Free Hit. I'll try explain them separately,  probably easier!

Wildcard 
You get 2 of these per season, one in first part and one in second part of season. You can make unlimited transfers, provided you stay within the usual budget restraints. These changes you make will be permanent.  Can be handy is you have a few injuries or want to offload lots of players at one time! They don't roll over so if you don't use the one in the first part, you lose it. If you go to make lots of subs in a week, you should get an option pop up to use the wildcard

Free Hit
You can only use this once in the entire season, like Bench Boost or Triple Captain. The difference between this and wildcard is that the changes you make are only for one game week, after that it reverts back to your team the way it was the week before.
