We're learning loads of morals with Aesop's fables and the Reds. Alas, only 1 of their answers sheeps, an absolute classic.

The Hare and The Tortoise: Leggy, Kol, cj (3)

Another pile of aces, as ari tries to renove her coat with The North Wind and The Sun, EN is in the money with The Goose Who Laid Golden Eggs, liz travels to The Plane Tree, jluv tries for a lesser evil with
The Fox and The Hedgehog and Necro just picks out a character who appears in both the fables and the fairy tales, The Big Bad Wolf, who really should get more love from this forum!

Another 3 points, another potential to be rustled on a solo sheep.

Blues are reading us a selection of Grimm Fairy Tales and manage to get away from this single sheep fiasco!

Hansel and Gretel: mam, homer (2)
Snow White: guiri, seph (2)
Cinderella: dave, aj (2)

Only 2 aces with Neo climbing the tower to visit Rapunzel, and lorc fighting off Necro's wolf with Little Red Riding Hood, another that should have had more love here!

A good spread of answers and a respectable 6 points.

I have a really old Brothers Grimm storybook with all their stories. Must try root it out . Their stories were so dark when you compare them to children's storybooks nowadays!

We head to the past to explore Dickensian characters, and we have a first in this game…

Oliver Twist: jluv, ari, EN, cj (4)
Fagin: Leggy, liz (2)
Scrooge: Kol, Necro (2)

It's a full house of 8 points across 3 answers, nicely done Reds.

It's almost a total opposite over in Middle Earth with Tolkein characters, with only a single score

Bilbo: guiri, seph (2)

Aaron opts for the wrong Baggins with Frodo, Neo and dave pick the wrong hobbits totally with Merry and Samwise respectively. Homer opts for a recent sheep, alas his team ignored it, with friend of the hobbits, Gandalf. Lorc picks the very handsome human, Aragorn, and mam thinks bad guys are cool with the all seeing Sauron.

A lovely selection and variety of answers, but only gets a 2.

The Reds try to butter me up for extra points with their single scoring fictional doctor

Doctor Who: jluv, leggy, Kol, cj (4)

The other half of the team all ace it, unfortunately. Ari opts for the TV grumpy genius, House, forgetting its a book round. EN chooses a doctor who teams up with a fictional detective, linking the questions, but no points for Dr Watson. Necro goes spooky season with the devious two faced Dr Jeykll. Liz goes full on cannibal with some fava beans and a nice Chianti with the murderous Hannibal Lector.

4 points isn't bad on a sheep, but it's still risky.

Blues try clues with some fictional detectives, with a marginally better score than the reds

Hercule Poirot: mam, lorc, guiri (3)
Columbo: dave, homer (2)

3 aces here, aaron picks the wrong Christie character with old Miss Marple, seph is on par with EN on the reds and opts for the detective with a doctor companion, Sherlock Holmes. Neo has also forgotten this is a book round and aces with an Ace, Ace Ventura (it's beautiful in its ace-ish-ness)

A score of 5 across 2 answers is looking ok.

A wide spread of Stephen King novels from the Reds, thankfully 2 scoring answers from half the team.

The Green Mile: jluv, cj (2)
The Stand: Necro, liz (2)

The other half of the team don't fare so well, Leggy is drowning in pig's blood with Carrie, Kol thinks all hosting and no playing makes him something, something in The Shining, ari reaches for a balloon in IT and EN breaks my legs so I have to do a decent reveal with Misery.

A 4 over 2 answers, not too bad.

Isaac Asimov novels from the Blues have a similar spread, with another 2 scoring answers

Foundation: lorc, aj (2)
I, Robot: guiri, dave, homer, seph (4)

Unlike the Reds, only 2 aces here! Neo wonders Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, while mam accidentally picks the wrong author with I Am Pilgrim.

A respectable 6, but a big sheep for the rustling.

Well it's probably better to have a chance at getting some points than aceing and getting absolutely none!!! Mind games..will the blues think we won't pick Dr Who because it's too obvious 🤔

I wasn't the rustler for that question (a shame for ye!) but my mind would have gone straight to a medical doctor on that question, so Dr Who would have bamboozled me. Interesting what's so obvious to some can escape others completely- the beauty (and cruelty) of Sheep!

Reds have a clear favourite of Enid Blyton characters, with the best of the famous five

Timmy the Dog: jluv, Leggy, EN, Necro, cj (5)
Noddy: Kol, ari (2)

Only a single ace here from liz, who opts for the silliest named of the famous five, Dick.

A fantastic score of 7, but can the Blues rustle it away?

Blues take on the Quentin Blake illustrated, Roald Dahl characters and we've 2 scorers

Willy Wonka: mam, guiri (2)
Matilda: dave, homer, seph (3)

Unfortunately 3 aces, lorc opts for the terrible teacher who tortures Matilda, Miss Trunchbull. Aaron favours Sophie's large buddy, the BFG, and Neo hangs out in a huge fruit with James Henry Trotter.

A score of 5 over 2 answers is pretty decent.

Sci Fi is Reds remit but alas only one sheep, watch out for Sandworms!

Dune: Kol, EN (2)

Unfortunately, 6 aces this time, with Necro choosing recent TV adaptation Hugo winning series The Expanse, more Hugos for Leggys choice of the Mars Trilogy. Lots of awards, no points.

Some of the team were a tad confused, or forgot "Books" as jluv chooses a classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey (which was novelised), cj picks long running TV show Star Trek (some excellent books too), liz chooses Robert Jordans high fantasy series The Wheel of Time and ari opts for Pullmans fantasy series His Dark Materials.

A tiny 2 after some confusion, hopefully it's 2 the Reds can hang on to.

Blues at least managed to stay within their category, and a decent single but dangerous sheep

A Song of Ice and Fire: mam, guiri, aj, Homer, seph (5)

As for the aces, lorc looks back to a previous question but Harry Potter is having none of it, dave dives into one of my personal favourites with Terry Pratchetts Discworld, and Neo enjoys the fact that His Dark Materials is at least correct.

A solo score of 5, can they hang on to it?

Tbf the line between "fantasy" and "science fiction" can be very blurry. There'll definitely be some series that overlap the two. I'm not a big reader of either genre but I have read His Dark Materials and while it is primarily fantasy I think you could definitely argue it has elements of science fiction as well
