I'm in CUH as father's cancer spread and needs op before chemo, I'm like a blubbering eegit, I hate breaking down in front of him, sorry to vent here

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - nothing - 14-03-2022

No need to apologise liz, vent as much as you need to.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that Liz

Sorry to hear that Liz .

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - ari101 - 14-03-2022

Sorry things have worsened Liz. Don't worry about needing to rant, you need support too! I'm glad he has family nearby to help him through it, and that really helps a lot. Practical help, but also less worrying about whether you'll manage stuff knowing there is someone there if you can't, and company and distraction from the shitty stuff on bad days. (Dear Forum Games peeps you were part of the latter crew for me and I thank you dearly! 🤗)

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - jp liz v1 - 14-03-2022

Thanks all, I was a mess earlier and also over Covid restrictions in the hospital which is for everyone's protection

He worried about Cheltenham bets

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - Leg End Reject - 14-03-2022

I'm sorry to hear that liz, I'd look at him worrying about his Cheltenham bets as a positive. He's thinking about his normal life and not just being ill.

Rant away, it can be a very lonely and bewildering time.

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - KathleenGrant - 15-03-2022

Very sorry to hear your news Liz. As Leg End says, rant away. It's better to release a bit of what you are feeling here than with someone you wish you hadn't afterwards. Self care is important too Liz, so do something nice for yourself.

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - jp liz v1 - 16-03-2022

@Necro @Necrina any baby news ?

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - thomil - 16-03-2022

Well, so much for being a bit more of a regular over here... But yeah, home side, after the first day back at work following a rather nasty head cold that knocked me out.

@jp liz v1 Sorry to hear about your dad, I can imagine how you must feel, been through that grinder myself. I'd offer you a hug, but I'd prefer not to pass on any residual bugs. Anyway, just feel free to vent whenever you need.

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - nothing - 16-03-2022

Went for a bit of a wander today and picked up some twigs and leaves to use in my printmaking, hoping I'll have the head space to get myself set up, got a wee printing press.

Had a chill paddy's day, didn't bother with any parade nonsense (we never have one here anyway). Didn't do anything particularly Irish. But am happy for the extra bank holiday

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - KathleenGrant - 18-03-2022

I did nothing either. Have Covid at the moment so confined to barracks.

I have been really lucky. Am hardly sick at all. I know so many people who have been quite ill with it so feel lucky to have escaped the bad symptoms they had. Am out of isolation Sunday.

Tripplw crown is in teh bag and beating France after not beating France while having the English do what we couldnt will feel hollow.

Its academic to me whether we win the championship now

I won't go as far as shouting for them, but I kind of want them to give us the trophy.

That said, I also want them to lose, as always, so I'll be happy either way Big Grin

Earlier this week there was a piece of plastic in one of my pancakes, today they refunded me and gave me a 25e gift card as an apology, which was a nice surprise, I'd have been happy with just the refund

Nice. But also, bit scary!

I had similar off moonpig last week - ordered a few cards and they didn't arrive. They just reprinted them and gave me an extra tenner credit, fair play

It didn't stop me eating the rest of them hah! Though if I'd accidentally swallowed it, I probably would have choked. Thankfully I bit straight into it. Shop manager was horrified as they make them in the shop. She kept asking what could they do, which I wasn't expecting, and didn't know what to say except that it was ok lol

Food product recalls due to "possible presence of ...."  (   plastic pieces / metal pieces / glass pieces  etc etc )   is a common enough listing on

Potentially costly for the manufacturer / agent

Curious from where @nothing ?

My local centra. It was firmly inside one of the pancakes, you wouldn't have seen it after cooking, and it was clear so could have missed it un the batter too.

@dawg they have a whole line of baked goods, and prep all their deli offerings, as well as dinners, not sure if that's all in the same kitchen or if they have the bakery and cooked meals in different ones.

RE: We don't know where we are, but at least we know what to do - jp liz v1 - 19-03-2022

I've noticed my local Centra has gone expensive on wraps and sandwiches while other Centra are cheaper, takeaway dinners by weight €8 to €10 mine and €6.50 in other

@nothing you could have damaged a tooth or gum

I think centra is a franchise model of sorts, so they set their own prices to an extent.

Yeah, I was lucky, it probably could have been much worse
