Yeah I definitely thought Living Next Door To Alice was a folk song that everyone just knew and was passed down through the years, I didn't think any one artist was actually responsible for that

I should have known it but in my defence I've never liked that song, and I dislike it even more now. I also dislike Ac/Dc. So everything about that question was just a big bag of shíte for me.

I'll put in my tuppence worth here! Smokie were a popular pop band in the 1970s, with a tinge of country thrown in. Living Next Door to Alice turned into a bit of a jokey standard - the "Who the F*** is Alice" was not in their version as you heard! It became a hit all over again when they teamed up with Roy Chubby Brown, who of course hinted!

ABC were big in the 1980s. They still get quite a bit of airplay on radio stations that play some oldies. That song in particular gets played quite a bit.
