Big Grin  I knew my freestyle wouldn't go down well. I'm aware its not a great cover, but I love the original song and I do like a bit of MGK. 

Originally I didn't realize the vote count might be used in future rounds, I just thought it was something to throw in for the craic.

I decided to go with a TV Theme Cover for my Freestyle, as growing up playing Trad Music me and a few friends used to love mixing things up by working some TV Theme Covers into the middle of Trad Sessions and they were always crowd pleasers... Dallas, EastEnders, Round The Twist, Pokémon, and DuckTales are the ones I remember us doing most, along with the Super Mario and Tetris themes...

Toyed with going with either Pokémon Cover (also from Saturday Morning Slow Jams) or Brendon Urie's performance of DuckTales on Jimmy Fallon for this round, but felt giving the underrated hero that is Darkwing Duck a bit of a nod more apt on this occasion.

I really liked @jp liz v1 song.

I don't know the original song, or the artist. 

But the artists name stood out because even though I don't know who he is, I actually have a song covered by him that I was gonna submit! 

But then end up choosing another. I'll post the cover later in the game when the genre comes up  Shy

Then I went and chose a song by an artist I KNOW isn't liked! lol

Yeah I thought I would love it but couldn't because of the sound. My learnings though from the first round is to have a listen, maybe check out original (as per Liz song, might have liked it better) and then listen again. Today was a busy day so difficult but that will be what I will do going forward. The best bit of this is listening to music I might not normally. Even the research, picking entries was brilliant..

I was the last to submit, was under time pressure (real life, not from Kol) so couldn't spend a lot of time researching, annnnnd then had to change loads.

I love my song in the Irish category, but don't think I'll survive long enough to see the reaction to it. Confused

That's my aim too, but not sure I'll have time. I can't judge a cover without hearing the original. Depends what you want, of course, but I want a cover to do something new with the song, so I need to know what the old was

I've got 5 or 6 that I genuinely think are brilliant, I hope they all get a chance. But there's a couple of rounds I struggled with and I'm just hoping to scrape through!
