The Blair Witch Project Vs Happy Gilmore
I think this depends on how you saw Blair Witch. I was 20, I got pulled in by the brilliant marketing, went to the cinema not knowing much and saw it in a packed screen. It was fecking brilliant!

And that's what Blair Witch is about. If you watch it years later on your TV I suspect it may be overhyped and not that great. But if you were part of the hype it really was one hell of a ride

Arrival - not a fan of Willy Wonka, but Arrival is just dreary.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi - basically if it's not part of the original trilogy it's generally not great.
The Princess Bride - only saw this for the first time a year or so ago.  Did not even remotely live up to all the hype I'd heard about how good it is.
Avatar - Top Gun is fun, Avatar is not.  Hard to see how people enjoyed it really.

It's like what I said earlier about Home Alone.  I wasn't a kid when it came out so I don't see the appeal of it.  The original trilogy were part of my childhood/teens, so while admittedly they're not cinematic masterpieces, I'll always view them affectionately.
