I'd maybe get a new charger. Just to be safe. Something seems off there.

RE: The Rant Thread - Leg End Reject - 31-05-2022

TheValeyard's sig looks like an ominous warning for Deja. 😮😯😲

Plugged in.
Before I  input the charger into the phone, it sent chargey tingles down my ring finger. I will be sure not to come in contact with that metal part again, just touch the plastic.

i'd get the earth of that socket checked.

I flew on Saturday. It wasn't as bad as Sunday, but wasn't good. Took an hour and a half through security. One thing I noticed though, was everyone being almost over polite to the staff. It's like everyone's heard how they're getting treated by DAA and knows it's not their fault, and wanted to demonstrate it. I imagined they'd be getting a lot of hassle but, while I was there at least, it didn't seem like it

I would hate to work in that place. The staff that are there should be cut a bit of slack for even turning up to work in that chaos. It wouldn't be me..

I did read earlier that they were getting loads of abuse yesterday, so it may have just been that I went through at a nice time

First time back in the office tomorrow since April 21. Have to go in for a training course. We've moved rooms since I was last there so the fun begins trying to find where the section actually is at 8am pac

Another entry in my occasional series of bug bears!

People not obeying the one-way systems in shopping centre car parks and taking parking spots.

I don't really care if they take a parking spot or not, it's simply the fact that they're going the wrong way that annoys me.  The amount of times I've gone down an aisle in the direction of the arrow only to have some idiot coming out of a space and head for me is unbelievable.  Blanchardstown Town Centre is particularly bad for this, despite the place being full of bloody big arrows on the ground.  I do make a point of never backing down and I'll happily wait until they turn around and go the right way.

I think car park designers need to be held to account too - people are generally useless shortcutting pricks - make it so the right way is the only way or the easy way and they will follow it! Big Grin
Even as a pedestrian I glare at every single asshole going the wrong way through the surface carpark in Dundrum when I cross it (every time at least half the cars are going the wrong way)

RE: The Rant Thread - Necro - 02-06-2022

Just booked tickets for the kids and myself to go to the cinema next weekend. Be the 5 year olds first trip and he's absolutely mad into dinosaurs so has been asking about Jurassic World Dominion.... I know, I know pac

Anyways that's not my rant, it's costing me 57 yoyos to take the three of us!! Now that includes kids boxes for treats but still, it's mad money!

RE: The Rant Thread - ShaneU - 02-06-2022

Just looked at my local Odeon for that movie and it costs €18 for an adult and child ticket and €12 for another adult so whatever cinema it is you're getting ripped off pac

They don't offer family concessions in this one is the problem so it's three tickets. 19 for an adult, 12.30 for each of the children then. Plus kids trays comes to 57 Sad

RE: The Rant Thread - ari101 - 02-06-2022

That's insane 😲🤯😵

I will not bitch about the price of cinema here again 😅 (Ticket prices vary by time but for standard seats are around 9-11eur for adult ticket only, 13-14.50 each for kid ticket with drink, popcorn and sweets, so 35-40ish total for 1 parent and 2 kids)

RE: The Rant Thread - Spears - 02-06-2022

I usually only go to the cinema on a Wednesday or Thursday when it's half price.
The odd time I'll go the weekend and pay full price.

But tbh, I always bring my own treats. Couldn't be paying those prices.

It's different if it were just me on my own maybe. But paying full price for the adults, and a few kiddo's, with food aswel, no way!

Sometimes I'll get the kids popcorn or nachos to share, but rarely buy drinks or treats in the cinema.

RE: The Rant Thread - ari101 - 02-06-2022

Monday nights here you can get an adult ticket standard seat for 10 incl medium popcorn and drink (medium is not small). Best value night to go 🙂

Wow that is madness, so expensive

When we were in Dublin and didn't have the young lad we used to get the midweek deal in the savoy, I think it was a tenner each for ticket and popcorn, can't remember if a drink was in that too. We would usually bring our own treats etc but we do like the cinema popcorn

I'd normally bring my own too but it's the 5 year olds first time so I said I'd give him the full treatment and would then be unfair on the 8 year old not to include him. That being said I'm partial to cinema popcorn myself...

I used to see the same car parked diagonally across two spaces in a small housing estate every day, blocking them both. I finally realised that each terraced house must be allocated two spaces in front of it and the dog in the manger homowner didn't want anyone parking in their spare space. Rolleyes

RE: The Rant Thread - Mam of 4 - 04-06-2022

Went back to the car after getting a few bits in Centra this morning and the car next to me had parked in so close that I couldn't get in ..and neither could she get out of her car😀 she kept looking at me so I said it's ok , I'll climb over from the passenger side , don't worry about it ,all the while muttering to myself not so polite things about her .

Haha, thats some parking if she blocked both her doors. I'd have headed off for a walk and left her there if I wasn't in a hurry.

Me too, and I'd have taken pictures of her car to freak her out.

I just can't understand this 🤣 was it the only space left and there was not enough room between the other cars for her to go back out and in and move slightly further over? If so at the very least she should have driven out of the space far enough and for long enough for you to get in your car. If you are driving a car you should have enough braincells capable of making logical decisions like this 😅🤦‍♀️ I'd have told her to move her car.

RE: The Rant Thread - Butty Brennan - 05-06-2022

I'm not one to rant, but I think that the standard parking space is not wide enough. If you look at people parking in an area that has no markings they will automatically leave enough room so that their door can open fully without hitting the next car: that would be the ideal size for a parking space.
The rows are too close together also, you often have to reverse and pull forward right up to parked cars several times before you can get out, it's no fun when there's other drivers waiting for you to hurry up and let them through. I don't know how people managed before parking sensors.
The planners want to squeeze as many spaces as possible into a new car park so my idea is just a pipe dream. Sad

I wonder if its a case of cars getting bigger, suvs everywhere now and the spaces in older carparks are no longer adequate? There must be a minimum parking space dimension that needs to be adhered to when marking out new carparks I'd imagine

RE: The Rant Thread - Neowise - 05-06-2022

You know that they know they are making the spaces too small when they need special mother and baby spots so that you are able to get a baby out of the car. All spaces should be big enough to easily get yourself and any shopping or passengers out or in of your car.

RE: The Rant Thread - Declan A Walsh - 05-06-2022

While we are on the subject of parking spaces, and their uses....

It is annoying when someone parks on a disabled parking spot and they don't have a disabled ticket - they are either ignorant, or they should not be driving because they have bad eyesight.  Angry

The ybare not mother and baby spaces,  the don't care what gender the person driving around with a needy child in the car is.

ah nothing, I getchya --- so much! Hope your sleep pattern regulates (and stays that way), hugs!

Does noise bother anyone else? I don't mean while you sleep, just anytime. I seem to live in a very (randomly) noisy environment - maybe I am getting old but it (and the neighbours) is quite jarring on the nerves.

RE: The Rant Thread - nothing - 12-06-2022

I'm too noise sensitive for apartment living, I think it's a sensory overload thing, always hated noisy places, probably why I was never big on concerts or crowds or nightclubs. And why I love 4am - so fabulously peaceful.
