RE: The Rant Thread - E.N. - 19-04-2022 Fucking Ryanair They overbooked the flight to Liverpool. 5 of us left hanging, waiting for no shows. There were 4, I was the only one travelling by myself so everyone's looking at me. We're all going to the match, next flight cuts it really fine, and I'm meeting a mate I've not seen for three years before. Tried to work it out amicably but the gate staff start arguing that it's first come (me) first serve, I ask what the alternative is and they just shout that if I don't board now, no one goes. So I went, but I think a couple of lads got split up, don't know what happened. So fucking stressful. On the bus into Liverpool now though, trying to flush the stress from my head before I meet my mates. I need some beer. Which means the 8:30 flight tomorrow morning will hurt 🙈 RE: The Rant Thread - jp liz v1 - 19-04-2022 (19-04-2022, 04:14 PM)E.N. Wrote: Fucking Ryanair Did you fly from Dublin @E.N. He said he'll send them an email, which is more than I expected. I went into uch a bad pothole this morning that it's lucky my wheel wasn't badly damaged. The roads are covered in them. The workers now will tarmac a road and leave manholes and drains with several inches of a drop from the road surface which is just as bad as a pothole. Then in some places the road is broke off at the sides on narrow stretches where you will need to swerve to avoid a car coming at you. I've been wanting to vent that one for a while. Get your rear in gear co council. Stop ignoring dangerous roads. RE: The Rant Thread - Declan A Walsh - 26-04-2022 A bugbear of mine is cars weaving in and out of lanes on motorways. It's particularly annoying when they who go across two or three lanes at the last minute to get to the inner-most lane to exit the motorway. Another one is where someone moves into the lane for exiting in order to undercut traffic before re-joining the main lanes of the motorway. The above reminds me of equally dangerous and annoying behaviour at approach roads coming towards a junction with a motorway. I have seen this quite a few times on the green route road between Sandyford and the M50 Ballinteer/Dundrum junction. There are two lanes as you approach the junction. The left is for going straight towards the M50 and the second is for going straight as well (two lanes to enter the M50) or for turning right into a roundabout for Rathfarnham/Ballinteer/Dundrum. What I see is people turning right from the left hand side. Dangerous on two grounds: (1) someone could be going straight on from the right lane, (2) once you exit right off the approach road, there are two lanes and you will have your left access blocked by the idiot who used the wrong lane. This in turn reminds me of people who use the wrong lanes at roundabouts. It's very annoying if you try to do the right thing and some idiot nearly runs in to you, or you have to let them through. While I am at it and probably at the other end of the scale, it is annoying to see cars hogging an overtaking lane on a motorway but not overtaking. Why can't they stay in the normal/slowest lane? Is it lack of understanding of how motorways work in that case? RE: The Rant Thread - E.N. - 26-04-2022 As a general rule, I'd say these people... Wrote: As a general rule, I'd say these people... There is a connection between the two events alright, but not always. I see some drivers constantly at this weaving behaviour without any provocation. Another thing that is most annoying is if you are overtaking a few cars on a motorway (some of whom could be those lane hoggers) and there is someone tailgating you. Even if someone was hogging a lane, which would not be the case this time, they should never be tailgated. If you brake, they could be straight into the back of you. It is an offence that carries penalty points, but I have never heard of anyone being done for it. It's very annoying if you try to do the right thing and some idiot nearly runs in to you, or you have to let them through. Allowing people to just exchange there foreign driving licenses for ours without any theory test could be responsible for this. In Spain, possibly other European countries, roundabouts are used differently. You have the right to be in the outer most lane and keep circling the roundabout if you so wish. you are supposed to have your indicator on, but anybody in a inner land needs to give way to those in outer lanes. I have a friend, who i think learned to drive in the uk, and to him, its acceptable to indicate to the right if you are exiting the 2nd exit, something our theory says you should only indicate right if using 3rd or subsequent exit of roundabout. instead of just swapping driving licenses, there should be some sort of exam, to ensure that drivers from abroad have read our rules of the road. It could well be a major contributory factor to that behaviour, but I think there might be other reasons too, such as people wanting to overtake and force their way in. What about lorries (not all, obviously!) that cut in front of you as you come off a roundabout? There is a common theme running through much of my rants today and that is aggressive driving behaviour. RE: The Rant Thread - Leg End Reject - 27-04-2022 A lot of Irish people don't seem to know how to use a roundabout. Special mention to the occasional idiot who stops on a roundabout to let someone out. 🧐😖🤯 |
