In a tightly contested final the winner of the FOG Academy Greatest Actor Ever on a 9-8 scoreline is 
ALAN RICKMAN

Tom Hanks had a great run but just didnt get it over the line on final polling day.

Robert De Niro, Paul Newman, Cary Grant, John Cusack, James Stewart, Dustin Hoffman, Steve McQueen, James Cagney and Leonardo Di Caprio. Not that you needed them named of course. 

For what it's worth Cary Grant, James Stewart and Harrison Ford are among my favourite actors. Throw in Katharine Hepburn, Sandra Bullock & Marisa Tomei for a bit of gender balance.

I would have gone with Tom myself as more range and variety of roles but Alan was taken too soon RIP

Thanks for running this, brilliant job! I like the outcome, Tom Hanks is good, he is just not a favourite, so I'm personally happier with Rickman.

Wichita Lineman, absolutely stellar job, take a break before you launch into mastermind, you deserve it! So so much work (and greatly appreciated)

I'm not sure if I was given the full 512 to choose from that I would have chosen Rickman, he would have ranked high enough with me, but I definitely wouldn't have bothered with Hanks, not a fan personally.

Rickman winning now means that not only is Die Hard the greatest Christmas Movie of all time with the greatest Christmas song of all time in it's soundtrack, but it now has the greatest actor of all time in the cast.

Meaning Die Hard is truly the greatest movie the world has ever seen. All hail Die Hard Tongue

Amazing feat @Wichita Lineman and was really fun to take part in and see it evolve

I think we had 2 very worthy finalists who are both excellent actors and I wouldn't complain if either had won..
