RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - cee_jay - 23-11-2021

I have a Dyson V11 Absolute. It's a vacuuming dream.

RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - ari101 - 23-11-2021

Haha a Dyson of that quality is probably out of the price range, I'll be replacing a Miele that was rather expensive in it's day, just too heavy/cumbersome now.

I wish a painting would work - I'd probably get looked at like I've gone off my rocker Big Grin

All else fails, bottle of cologne and a scarf, but I've done both of those many multiples of times pac

RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - dawg - 23-11-2021

The Miele will be working in 20 years time

If you want to be practical you could

( Ho, Ho, Ho ! )

give a big multipack of replacement bags for it

Big Grin

Yeah the Miele is still as good as the day it was bought Big Grin We also bought a Miele dishwasher around the same time also going strong 20+ years on!

RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - dawg - 24-11-2021

Felt very aggrieved having  to replace our Miele D/W  in 2007...you see it was almost new  ( i.e. bought in the mid 70's )  Big Grin

That's not bad considering current prices but imagine that it's actually considered cheap at that price  Dodgy

Fuel prices are nuts at the moment.

I know , the price for fuel is just ridiculous atm , I filled the car for €57 , it's one and only Christmas Present ☺ (in keeping with the thread!)

They really are. And you have to wonder if they'll drop much in the future.

I've started looking longingly at electric cars. They're expensive but we need a new car anyway, and being self employed there's some decent tax breaks on them. That's my next project once we get the house sorted, see if I can justify one!

Electricity is through the roof at the moment too, and when the current issues abate just like insurance prices will they drop? Will they flip!!

True, but our new house has some solar panels on it. I presume, in sunny Kildare, we'll never have to pay for electricity again Big Grin

(can't believe Mam turned the Christmas thread into a car one, she's such a grinch Tongue)

RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - ari101 - 26-11-2021

A mod will boot us all to the Rant Thread if we are not careful... Big Grin

Plus side of being sick means, although I am missing my early Xmas dinner party with my girlies in the West Sad I'm saving having to buy diesel to get there and back Confused pac

RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - cee_jay - 26-11-2021

Our street seems to have been lit up overnight. So many houses have Christmas lights up now outside.

RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - Zaph - 26-11-2021

Our window lights went up last night, and the tree has just gone up in the last hour or so.  If it was outside you could probably see it from space, there are over 1400 lights on it. Big Grin

RE: The Foggies Christmas thread - nothing - 26-11-2021

A balcony across from me has been lit up with stuff painted on the windows and a projected santa since the day after Halloween

Jingle balls to that. People will probably want to leave it a bit later this year to save money on the lights with the price of electricity.

I saw a bit of a Christmas movie the other day where the Queen and Prince of England were stranded in a town in America on Christmas Eve, this all-american family invited them to spend Christmas with them, but the thing is that the family and nobody else in the town recognised them. I mean, come on Dodgy

I've had a Shark N350 for the past 3 years  - it's not cordlesss but is virtually weightless, works great, easy to maneuver and empty (and quite affordable atm).  If their cordless ones work as well, it would be well worth it!

Did the advent calendar start yet?
More hoover talk: I have a Henry. Too clunky and heavy. I'm in the market for a lightweight cordless yolk too if anyone is flogging....!
