We are hoping that this will be the last Christmas in our current residence and that our new place will be all ready to live in by next year. Its due in August but you know what developers are like

In a way I can't wait for this Christmas to be over but also really excited for it.

...sure do, we were hoping to be in for this Christmas but it looks unlikely now. Hopefully it won't be too far into the new year. Trying not to get annoyed and just focus on the positive, it'll be amazing when we do finally get it

Yeah, I'm the same really. I agree about the music, I do get fed up of that as its always the same songs on loop, drives me crazy. But I'm indifferent to when Christmas starts to be mentioned, but it seems like one of those things you have to pick a side on!

How's everyone's prep going?

I've informed family I'm staying home, have 3 of 7 presents bought, ideas for 2 more. Thinking of getting a prime rib joint from the butchers for dinner on the day, have yet to think about sides.

Dinner is just me here, I've done goose the last 2 years, delicious, but pricey! In other years I've done duck, beef Wellington, salmon en croute. I usually end up eating it for a week, but I don't mind that.

I stick with the old turkey and ham , a little bit of roast beef here . Keep saying I'll get a small turkey , never do though lol , which was just as well last year ! Anyhow, yep , I eat it for days here too , I don't mind either!

I'm not pushed on either roast turkey or ham as dinner meats. I try to do most of the cooking/prep on xmas eve otherwise I end up eating dinner at 9pm because I get distracted by TV.

Same here Nothing , Christmas Eve is the busy day , I cook the meat and prep the veg . Kind of like a Saturday for Sunday dinner , everything was always got ready on the Saturday when we were growing up , same with Christmas Eve.

You people do wha??? Holy christmas cookie, I am such a slug - lucky to just get out o' bed on the day, cannot fathom how to even cook a goose (or beef, ham, turkey, or duck!) Does sound lovely, though!

I don't participate in the Christmas forum over there, so I wouldn't know who the regulars are, but LoughC is a member here.
