Close round this time, Spears and Aaron taking points from me. Elliot Minor was my favourite, though State Champs was a lot of fun.

Shane was just behind, I enjoyed it but found I was ok when it finished

Didn't like that Avril song, and I do generally like her. The chorus lyrics were just a bit clunky, spoiled it for me

And I didn't even listen to Sephi's, no votes for Green Day for obviousness Tongue

I had Scene Queen lined up pre-tournament as I just discovered her. She's awesome, great fun. Apparently her solo stuff is "Bimbocore" though, think Aqua meets Marilyn Manson, so I went for this collaboration to fit the brief. I think it's a great song, easily the song of the round, right? Wink
Only a few weeks old too, bonus points for that, yeah? Tongue

Edit: didn't love Aris' I'm afraid, just the singer's voice for me, something about jars new. jluv's was decent, would have just fallen short of a vote for me, though

Not a big fan of pop punk in general, just a few songs here and there, so only voted for the couple of songs that really caught my attention.

Strong selection overall

Shane definitely had my favourite song of the round

I really wanted to like Liz's. The problem with Avril is that all her best songs are too well-known, and all her other songs are... well, not that great, unfortunately. On the bright side, at least it wasn't Hello Kitty Big Grin

Oof, gonna be a tough round for me in terms of Facing The Music, because I like all songs here, and will struggle to separate them in order to vote someone out tonight.

Will really have to think hard this afternoon about what criteria I'll use, only 2 of the 7 in contention are new to me (so high chance neither of the Bottom 2 will be songs that were new to me), and I think all songs fit the genre, and genuinely like them all pretty much equally, so I have little to go on when it comes to making a decision.

I have not been following all the rounds closely as I was busy but I was not keen on most of the rounds anyway. I kind of liked the prog rock round. I liked two from this round, one of which (Basket Case - Green Day) was the only one I had heard before.

I wanted to pick a newer lesser known Avril song which failed on me should have gone for My Happy Ending which I love by her

I enjoyed @E.N. and @aaronjennings the most

That was a fun round..not a style of music I normally gravitate towards, other than Avril Lavigne who I do listen to. Really good songs from all - LL included.

As much as I don't want to vote anyone out on the back of this round, its the job that has been thrust upon me... 

I really like both of these songs, so its difficult to separate.

@jp liz v1 I'm a big fan of Bite Me, I know it very well and play it often, but once again @E.N. has probably delivered my favourite song of the entire round and not only is Win Win a great discovery of a song, the artists are new to me too, so will be checking both of them out more (especially Scene Queen as I've actually really gotten into "Bimbocore" as a genre recently) and having something new and shiny to listen to works very much in its favour here

For those reasons, my vote is to send Liz home tonight

Avril has much better songs, anything from her first 3 albums would have took this round for me. I'm not even familar with this one. ENs song just didnt work for me. Some elements of it were fine but overall I just didnt like it much.
I think the correct 2 are facing the music tonight.
Even an average Avril songs wins here, unfortunately I will be sending @E.N. home tonight

Instrumentals is an annoying round for me as I love post rock, but most of what I listen to needs a long time so I know it won't work here

Also, annoyingly, Sigur Rós released a new album today which I'm sure will be magnificent, but I won't have time to listen to it before tomorrow morning

So I'll have to fall back on an old favourite, I think

I almost submitted Pretty in Pink for this round but it wouldn't really have fit the brief. She was one of two artists that are new to me that I was hoping to enter, still hoping a suitable round comes up for the other, even though I have no idea what that round could be 🤣
