Alright folks,

Welcome to the first Walrus Reveal on Forum of Games!!

I've decided to theme this one and keep it very straight forward.

For those who are unfamiliar with Walrus basically the host selects a number of categories and all you need to do is send them (via PM) a song you think best fits that category.

the host then judges all the entries and ranks them in order of preference when the reveal goes live... and we can all laugh about how terrible their taste is... pac

Categories...

That's looks so familiar, it could almost have been me Tongue
Something Old

A song released before 1980, pretty simple tbf. Some songs that came to mind when judging the category…

That’s just a few that popped into my head. Fairly open category here.

Welcome to our new players, and of course our Walrus veterans, great to have you all on board. As always, don’t fret too much about your placement, it’s only my opinion – and everyone else says that’s sh1te so it’s probably not too bad of a thing if you don’t do well Tongue

So buckle up, the bride is here!!!!

No dupes this time around… one in a later round but other than that a full house of tracks!!

So this time around with 12 entrants I’m going to leave the bottom and top TWO until last to make a fantastic (or not so… haha) four. That means we’ll be starting with 10th place in each round.
Nearly entered Elton John and Kiki Dee because I only found out last week it was that old. I'd have sworn blind it was the eighties!

The Monkees - Mary Mary

This is ok. It kinda just hangs around at the same tempo for the full track which means it gets boring fairly fast on relistens.
I'm here, where is the tea?

ah sh1te, I just thought of a song I prefare to the one I entered  Dodgy

ELO - Mr Blue Sky

This was submitted to another Walrus of mine and I do like this track, I really do. I think it just hangs around far too long at the end and you’re just hitting ‘Skip’ before it finishes. So hence the low placing.

Stevie Nicks - Landslide

Again, I like the track but I prefer the Fleetwood Mac version as opposed to Stevie by herself. It’s the arrangement I think, the Mac version accentuates her strengths. Anyways this is where this one ended up after a few listens.
I'm here to watch how this goes down.. probably would have submitted Piano man myself
hard luck @nothing
that song always reminds me of the cute opening scene to Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with baby Groot dancing  Smile

The Stooges - No Fun

I do like that grungy grimy start beat. Just really enjoyed this entry, not much more to say than that.

Neil Young - Heart Of Gold

I’m not the biggest Neil Young fan but I did appreciate this entry, it definitely grew on me the more I listened to it.
Also... reminder to request a spoiler button so I don't have to type things in lol

Abba - Dancing Queen

Very good choice, very groovy if a little overplayed. 5th place is a fair shake for it imo.

Mama Cass - Make your own kind of music

Can someone tell me what show this was in recently? It’s doing my absolute head in. The chorus is just brilliant and I really enjoyed it more and more on relistens.
Was it in Lost? That's the first thing that comes to mind
It might have been... I did watch that recently..
In 3rd place with 10 points

Elvis - Suspicious Minds

Classic track, have heard this done and even sung this so many times for karaoke. Should it probably go in the overplayed category? Yeah, but I just enjoy it too much to place it much lower tbh.

Wikipedia also says Dexter used it a few times, and one episode of The Middle

Skeeter Davis - The End of The World

Bit too slow and meandering for my own tastes unfortunately. I just wasn’t vibing it at all on relistens.
