Welcome to Kolrus Strikes Back - A walrus game
Last year I ran my first music walrus, it got a bit heated so you can expect more of the same here. I think you all know how this works so here are the categories.
Spot the difference - A cover that is different from the original
A cover that sounds different to the original, how different is up to you.
First time - One of the first songs you can remember that got you interested in music
I know this might show your age and might limit your options, you can be as honest as you wish.
MTV - A song with a great promo video
Promo videos were everywhere back in the day, some of them were very catching, even more than the song itself. I will rate the video and song equally here.
Not Top of the Pops - A song that should have been No. 1 but wasn't (in the UK charts)
A song you think that should have topped the UK charts but didn't.
Surprise Surprise - A song you like from an act you generally don't like
We all have those songs we like but we don't like the artists, I'm sure we all do anyway.
Going solo - A song from a solo artist who was originally in a group
Was in a band/group, left and released solo hits, you know what I want.
80s Gems - Hidden gems from the 80s
Couldn't have a Kol game without the 80s. The less mainstream the better here.
Now I know the categories are very mainstream, and that is what I listen to most. However, there will be bonus points in each round for the highest ranked song that I've not heard before. For the sake of this game, if I've heard the song but not the version nominated, it will qualify for the bonus points. Also if I've heard every song in the round, the one least familiar will score the bonus points.
I'm aware the traffic here has decreased recently so if I get 10 entries I would be very happy. No deadline, lets see how it goes.
