I'm in too 😁
At some point it will be my turn to Rustle, I just haven't been online any day early enough to offer, sorry blue team, I'm not avoiding it 🤣 though with today's questions that's pretty tough!!! 😅
Allllrighty, let's get this Historic Irish party started!
Blues lead by 2, my thread title is becoming more sarcastic by the round, can we please sort that out Reds?!
Reds had many events to choose from and I think dave summed it up best
Quote: Ohhhhkayyy. So again the obvious ones are the Easter Rising, War of Independence, Civil War, The Famine, A much younger DavetheRave winning the 2008 I.T. Carlow indoor football tournament, 1798 Rebellion, Home Rule, Signing of the Truce and then the Treaty in 21, Even the Good Friday Agreement or Bloody Sunday?
Could some of the Foggers be thinking way outside the box along the lines of Italia 90 or a Rugby Grand Slam, or maybe Pope JP2 visit in 79 I think it was, or even one of the recent referendums?
Footage of daves indoor football from 2008
Aris is our only Red ace tonight, with Battle of the Boyne
Neo and Kol are celebrating our rise up against the evil chocolate overloads with the Easter Rising
Witchy, lorc and spears are wondering where all the potatoes are with the Great Famine
mam, leggy, trigs and dave reckon they'd kick foreign behinds in the War of Independence
9 points up for grabs, unless Homer can steal 2, 3 or 4!
Blues were in a similar quandary with lots of obvious options. I think aaron had the best PM
Quote:How 'historic' do we go? Taoiseachs and presidents of the past, like Eamon DeValera? Figureheads of the 1916 Rising, like Patrick Pearse? Or do we go even further back, with the likes of Brian Boru?
I think there are so many to choose from, this might be a case of trying to match-up with a teammate, rather than avoiding the rustler. On that basis I will go with one of the obvious ones and say...
Unlike the Reds, Blues hit on 6 aces tonight! Homer has some heavy rustling to do... For now
Jluv went with chocolate defeater himself, Michael Collins
Aaron chose a man of many talents, and buddy of old MC, Patrick Pearse
Liz stayed close to her heart with Terence MacSwiney, who I wasn't familiar with, was voted as Lord Mayor of Cork during the War of Independence, died after a 74 day hunger strike in Brixton prison and had 3 funerals!
Ari struggled through some options and went with Liam Neeson
Homer chooses peace with John Hume
Hilda picked another of the great revolutionaries against the evil chocolate and proprietor of one manly mustache, James Connolly
Finally, onto some possible points now!
Zaph and Necro are agreed on New York born, former President and former Taoiseach, Eamon DeValera
Buile and Seph go with literary genius and sarcastic wit, Oscar Wilde
so, only 4 possible points, and Witchy could rustle some away!
Homer builds some tension before making a decision
Quote: And my rustle for the Reds...First thought was the Easter Rising. Then I thought Bloody Sunday. And then maybe The Famine *cough Genocide cough*
How far back will the Reds go, and will they go for Northern Irish to be clever?
....
.....
Fuck it, Easter Rising is my rustle.
Other than a miss, this is the best worst outcome for the Reds, as only 2 precious points are rustled
Wichita Lineman has a whole essay of thoughts, but did he overthink?
Quote: You are certainly stretching our old brain cells this week!
Seeing as I was feeling very brave this morning and decided to be the reds rustler I've had to have a good think about this one. Especially seeing as it's so close.
If I was in their shoes and nominating I'd have to have several fields to consider. James Joyce, Oscar Wilde or even Bram Stoker from the literary world or Arthur Guinness as he invented, well Guinness and that makes him an important historical figure to my mind. I could say St. Patrick but he wasnt even Irish so maybe I'd go to the arts world and pick Maureen O'Hara from the 'fillums' or that Gay Byrne for The Late Late Show and all the taboo breaking he did on the telly. Musically we could go with Bono, Christy Moore or even Bob Geldof (for Live Aid). That was historic, mind you it was in Britain. In sport, Ray Houghton put the ball in the English net but the Scottish accent still makes it hard for me to pick him for this. Roy Keane has the accent, as does Katie Taylor but neither are far enough in the past to qualify.
Then of course we come to the politics end of things. Douglas Hyde was our first President, Mary Robinson the first lady to hold that office and then there's also Dev.
All I'm doing so far is making things harder for myself.
So without further ado my attempt at a rustle - so help me Jesus (and all his carpenter friends) - is Michael Collins.
Mentioned both DeValera and Wilde, but misses out!
So... 2 rounds left, let's see where we are...
Round 8
Reds 7
Blues 6
Total
Reds 50
Blues 51
Blues just about retain the lead, this has been such a tight game!
@
Homer J. Fong brilliant rustling considering the amount of options available and you saved the day!!! Go blue team..
I'm going to do the last 2 questions in the morning so ye don't have to wait for Monday for the final scores.
Kol and Aris left to rustle for the Reds.
Ari and Seph left for the Blues.
Last 2 rounds are Movies and Animals!
Love how close this game has been throughout!
I also never need to worry about my rustle reasoning being too detailed anymore
Tricky questions, six is a pretty good score for that round, all things considered
That was a tough one, so many options and hard to pinpoint an era.
DeValera crossed my mind but the first one I thought of was James Connolly. I can sing a few verses and all
.😁
I think when rustling don't overthink it, some gas thoughts though
When is Nun Direction debut

Have to get the game out of the way
Good to see it's not all gone Pete Tong for the blues here... Unlike... Arsenal.
*sighs*
Good result for the Reds today.
Very close scoring, either team could get it. Game on!
Well I figured if I gave some detail of my rambling thoughts that it might at least amuse my red teammates and they might not notice it wasnt a successful rustle. As for the blues, how could only 1 person pick Mickey C.
You're better than that.
And I'm not even from Cork.

Sephiroth_Dude Well if roles were reversed I'd guess you'd be cat rustling 🤣 but we both get to pick a furry feline, yay! 🥳
Let us know which you'd prefer to rustle and I'll take the remaining one 😁👍
Blues are a bit screwed on the animal question cause there is only one type of cat... Evil
*hides in corner as Seph prepares to attack me*
I can rustle movies if Aris wants to take the animals.
Hopefully we wont be fighting like cats and dogs for these questions.
Thank god you postisted that GIF @
aaronjennings
When I seen that question I was confused for a minute thinking I've never heard of any other types of cats! Doh.
*I finally copped that there ARE in fact plenty of types of cats. Sometimes I really do wonder about myself

🤔🤔, Sure I know nothing about cats Ari so I'll leave it to you and I'll take the other one if you want .
😜
