9pm tonight is still looking good so I hope some of the contestants are around to join in and of course audience members are welcome too.

Please bear in mind I've had to provide a lot of questions on some topics that I know absolutely nothing about so I've done as much research as I can to check things are right. But ....as they say on all the best quiz shows the answers were correct at the time of recording.

We have some really interesting specialist subjects coming up and i hope you will enjoy the reveal.

Woohoo can't wait!
I'm curious to see how this'll even work!

Looking forward to it though
I have randomized the 17 contestants and will show their Specialist Subject questions and answers first. I will then go from 17 back to 1 with everyones General Knowledge questions and answers.

Specialist Subject score is added to General Knowledge score and the Tiebreakers will be used if we need them.
I'm thinking there could be a couple of pints in this, yeah? Could be hanging around for a while.
I really hope nobody was cursed with a question from my 3rd-choice category Big Grin

I hope the tie break questions never see the light of day! Confused
Better use this gif before it's shown to be inappropriate Big Grin

I reckon I did OK on my specialist subject but there were a few guesses on the general knowledge
I was thinking about the time alright but let's see how we go.
This reminds me of waiting for a remote meeting to start.  Big Grin
First into the hot seat - Quickbeam
Specialist subject - Wheel of Time books.

Jaysus, there's a bullet dodged in the general knowledge round!!
Nicely done quickbeam! I'm not familiar with the books (I mean I'm aware of their existence) so well done, looks like it was a mix of hard and easy
So with 8 to beat and Quickbeam currently in the lead next up is - ShaneU
Specialist subject - Nintendo video games

Shane also scores 8.
Well done Shane!
Aaron Jennings is no 3, Specialist Subject - Marvel Cinematic Universe

7 out of 10 for Aaron

Man, this isn't looking good for me.
Another great mix of questions Wichita. Excellent answers aaron! (sorry I stole your specialist top choice!)
Yep, that's exactly what I expected. I knew 7 and 9 would be wrong. I also knew they probably gave a reason for 6, but didn't have a clue what it could be, so just went for what he did in the previous movie
Hot on the heels of the Marvel crew we have Neowise who picked Semiconductors as a specialist subject.

Neowise got just 3. Which is probably 3 more than anyone else would have got to be fair!

I did ask Wichie to send me the questions you got, so I know how I would have done if I had gotten your set. I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares Smile
Fair play Neo, really tough questions!

I did say there was scope to cover us both by focusing on another era, but I think decisions had already been made by then!
Where on earth did you get these questions from?!

It's only looking at the specialist rounds (and not having a notion of any of them) that you can see the amount of work gone into this!
Come in no 5 your time is up - Declan A. Walsh with Dublin Pirate Radio as his speciality.

Declan joins the 8pts group.

I couldn't answer any of the questions so far!
Bravo Declan, some great knowledge
The 6th member to try their luck is  - Deja Boo who chose Musicals of the 1950's & 60s

We have yet another 8!

One of the ones I got right was an educated guess that I was not hopeful of at all, and I had ruled out what turned out to be the correct answer in another question!
Fantastic performance Deja. Everyone is doing great so far!
Could it be lucky number 7? GreenandRed on MAYO GAA.

GreenandRed hit a few nice points and ends with 6

Nothing worse than talking yourself out of a correct answer
Nice one, G&R, very close on a couple of those incorrect answers

Very appropriate colour scheme for the Q&As Big Grin
Awesome scoring all round so far.
Can our 8th contestant join the 8th brigade? Leg End Reject with Human Anatomy and the answer is no as they got 9 to take the lead.

Isn't that the story of Mayo in All-Ireland Finals, though?  Big Grin

Just looking at Neo's answer to number 2, is 'goes down' and 'decreases' not the same thing?
