If you've never played Settlers of Catan, I can highly recommend it, very easy to pick up for beginners, suitable for all ages, and a great one for xmas!

There are 5 resources, Sheep, Grain, Wood, Brick and Ore.

Many a player has been rendered hysterical after claiming they have Wood for Sheep!

100%  I just reckoned that wood is generally a basic in any games that have resources, but it was most definitely a guess.

There is a reason why I actively avoid PEEHS and it is becoming very apparent in this game.

Alright, half way there and I asked you to name a board game with 2 or more dice. Most of you plumped for games with 2, though some braved a solely diced based game!

It's a resource in the Catan Dice game, but not in Settlers of Catan

Damn it, I have actually played Munchkin once before. I had no idea what was going on and needed the rules explained to me constantly.
