You know the song but do you know the year?

I will post 30 songs, your can guess what year each was released
All songs are between 1960 - 2000 and no year has more than song
For each year you are out, you get 1 penalty point, the player with the least points will be the winner
All songs will have been released as singles in US and/or UK. If there is a difference in the release year between both regions, the correct answer will be the earliest year of release.

THIS IS A NO GOOGLE GAME

Depending on how this goes, there might be other editions like movies, historical events..etc

I will post the songs in a day or so, still compiling.
In!
Rubbish music knowledge levels, but in!
I'm glad there's nothing the last 20 years. I'd definitely do more poorly if they were included. Probably won't do well anyway, but would definitely do worse if there were more recent ones included.
I am so, so bad at identifying years. I could be a decade out when the answer was three years ago. But I love music, so I'll enter!
Definitely in for this. Expecting to spectacularly crash and burn. Big Grin
No Bon Jovi please
I have no clue about pop music nor timeframes.

so yes, I'm in.
Unless it's Take That, I will fail spectacularly at this. And so, I'm in.
I think listening to the radio back in the day when they had the likes of "the classic 9 at 9" - 9 songs from a particular year in an hour, some song's years weirdly just stuck in my head. Though that was back in the 90s, when "classic" meant 60s to 80s, so stuff from the 90s itself probably wouldn't do as well. I definitely wouldn't do well on Take That songs. I can't even remember what station used to do that.
When I was a teenager, I used to get Smash Hits magazine bought for me for helping my Man do shopping on a Friday - I think I got it every second week. I was tuned in to what was recent for a few years then, probably up to around age 17. Then. I lost track of all recent music, and discovered the joy of 70a/80s rock.

There's a 9 at 11 on today fm on a Saturday morning, same thing, guess the year!

Definitely not the one I was thinking of, as I don't listen to Today FM on Saturday morning or any other time, in truth, any more. This was an evening show back in the mid 90s.
I think that was also today fm... But Google is failing me
Might have been. I did listen to it in the 90s.

Could have been fm104 either. Those were the 2 I listened to, and I vaguely remember it in the evenings
I listened to 98FM, FM104, TodayFM and wasn't there a station called Century too back in the 90s?

Remember those ads for the 98FM cashcall where members of the public bragged about winning? Me and my friends actually got to record one of them when we were stopped in town once. Was always exciting whenever we heard one of our ads broadcast.

We used to also pull crank calls on random numbers pretending to be the cashcall! Bloody kids!!
Oooh mine were Atlantic 252, FM104 and Today FM. I think FM104 had a late night talk show were people complained about things and gave advice on adult topics that wouldn't be on the airwaves during the day
I was never cool enough to listen to Atlantic 252 Smile Yeah I remember the late night talk shows on FM104 and 98FM, I think both of them did them. Very educational for an impressionable naive teenager Tongue
I didn't listen to any music from 1995 to 2018 so yes.. I'm in
I'm in but will fail miserably. Big Grin
The song list is ready.

Please PM me your entry, the song list with the year of release.

In. A (very small) few I'm very confident of. A few I took a wild guess at. The rest I made an educated guess.
I'm working through them. Stating with the ones I think I know, and then filling in the gaps. My issue is the amount of gaps.
Ah. There isn't a song for every year in the time period! I think I need to start again.

I had thought of doing that but decided to leave it at 30.

In fact I was going to do the best selling single from each year, maybe next time.
Yeah, I'd expected one for each year too. It makes it nearly harder that there are gaps. But it'd be awful if Kol made one of these things too easy for us Tongue
In. Even though I checked my answers a few times I still probably put a duplicate year in there somewhere, great idea for a game by the way

Excel, conditional formatting, duplicate values!
How do you want the entries sent? The song list with the years after each song? Just the years in a numbered or unnumbered list?

The song list with the years after each song is best.

Thanks. Those 80s songs are tough btw, there are a few I would have guessed in the same year Confused
Winning entry submitted!!!
In Smile

I reckon I've done pretty well on the 90s but the rest I have no idea on. Educated guesses mostly. Luckily the ones I had no clue on had fairly "of their time" videos, I think...
Seeing as I used to host a radio show that played the charts from a specific year each week, I'll sit this one out as my insider information would be an unfair advantage. pac
Ha! Thanks RSOAPS!
