I didn't ask most of you here, this is not my place but i feel a part of it.

That said, boards.ie / forum games is my home.

Thats where i want to reside, i dont want to be offsite, but unfortuntely ( i cant speel ) the platform became impossible.

I am not a benefactor of this site, but a volenteer, so i hope that you trust me, that when boards is suitable for us again, we will return.

currently, i dont find it somewhere i want to be long, i read the 'Welcome to the new Boards.ie platform - Version 1.0 Smile' thread and what ever FG updates there are, and to be honest, after vanilla paint, i don't expect much.

I dont know where i am going with this post, but as i opened a thread with it, maybe i'll add to it.

Feel free to add your open thoughts too.
I absolutely love it here, I feel so comfortable with ye all.

I still check boards a few times a day, but have found myself unfollowing more forums. I feel like every day something else has changed over there, but it might never be the same. I'd love to think they'll get it properly fixed, but how far away is that?

I never paid to subscribe over there, but I'd happily pay to keep this place going. I know it's not intended to be permanent, and I do hope we get the functionality back on boards to go back, in the meantime I would gladly help support those putting in so much time and effort to run this place Smile

I like it here. Mam talked me into playing one game of sheep on Boards, but I found it confusing looking at all the different games there, and the 2 separate forums confused me. I think now it was one for sign ups and one for reveals. Whereas here I randomly joined in with different games.

The update was a complete disaster and Niamh is left to take all the flak (Mark was too). The thing that irritates me most is Odhran's indifference and his very occasional updates are generally written on the presumption that we are all techies and understand.

Requests are dealt with promptly here (I know that's easier with smaller numbers) and a platform suitable to play all the different games was chosen. I read the mod forum on the last game of Werewolf and I was astonished at the behind the scenes work needed to run it.

My interest in, and affection for, Boards is in terminal decline and I don't think the site can be fixed quickly enough to stop that. Already we have Vanilla updates borking up Boards attempts to customise the site to align the functionality with old Boards.

Like nothing, I'd happily subscribe here too.
It's definitely your place Neo.

I agree with everything above. I want us all to return to boards in an ideal world. But every time I load it up I get more and more disheartened, I don't really see any improvements

You guys have done an amazing job here, I'll never tire of saying it. It's a great forum. My only concern is that FG has had a few comings and goings over the last few years, and I don't know where the comings will come from here - there'll be far fewer newcomers stumbling in at random and getting trapped! Already the number of people playing sheep/walrus etc is well down on six months ago, when we were routinely getting 40+. Not much we can do about that, it has to be organic. We'll miss games popping up on the front page of a larger forum and people wondering what's going on

I guess we'll have to see. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see FG returning to boards for a good while yet.

And agree with nothing and Leggy, I'd happily chip in to help with the running costs here. I don't have the first clue what they are, but I wouldn't like you guys to be out of pocket
I will echo the sentiments above.
I still check boards but it's mainly forum games that I am interested in (and also the films/tv series recommendations threads and the Arsenal thread), so I find myself spending less time at the moment.
I'm quite happy here at the moment and I will happily follow the rest of the gamers if we decide to switch back to boards.

For now, a big thank you to all the admins for creating and maintaining this forum - and a big thank you to all the gamers for making it a success!
I thibk I speak for the whole mod/admin team when I say we have absolutely no intention of taking anyone's money.

The intention behind Fog was to give everyone, who wishes, a place that they can come, join in games and chats while Boards is unable to host them properly. We do still hope that boards becomes more accessible for playing our weird and wacky games.

From my own point of view, FG became a part of my every day life when I first started playing, it's mods and posters are some of the best people you will find anywhere on the Internet, it's not a serious place, but a place that you can unwind and have fun, and have a laugh with likeminded folk. I like to think that the place kept me sane through lockdown and that's a credit to the posters who are present there.

We don't wish to take over from boards as a place, we want to go back there as I said, but right now that's uncertain when it will be.

We have noticed that footfall and activity is down, but that's to be expected with a new site away from the hustle and bustle of boards. What we do want though is for posters to be able to play games when and how they wish. I for one am not going to complain about reduced numbers, I and the rest of the admin team I'm sure, just want to give the posters who are participating, somewhere that they can do that.

This place isn't just for us, it's for all of ye because ye really are an amazing group, without ye, there would be no FOG, so please, enjoy and don't worry about the behind the scenes stuff.
